Does anyone have any experience mounting their gas tank with leather straps? Considering this...

could I weld some footman loops to my frame or my tank and wrap a leather belt through in two places?

So I have a little problem. The final nut only threads in until it bottoms out. Can I cut about 3/4” of the threads off? Or is there a different nut I can use?

forks look great and the quality seems pretty good.

Yes you can, but wait till you are almost done just in case you need room for head light bracket, or the like there is also a small jam nut you can put under it to hold all together till then.........Curt

I’m also having trouble with the crown race. I was able to get it off the old forks without any trouble, it’s not going on the new forks.

i’ve tried everything including a pipe just the right size to hammer on it but it’s not going on.

suggestions???

OD of steering tube where the crown race presses on is 27mm

ID of Crown race is 26.7mm

can I file one of them down a bit ?

Ok crown race installed.

with these forks being a little taller,I may increase upward the slot where the axle bolts on. That could buy me another 1/3 to 1/2”
