guess the title of my thread doesn’t Hold true except for the BTR replica part
Been reading up on welding chromoly. Seems TIG is what’s recommended. I’ve read it can be done with a flux core welder however. Is there a special wire I need for my welder? Was reading something about T1 with different classes like B1, B2, etc... but not being a welder I’m a little lost. Anyone know?

yea covid has really slowed down the economy and production.
not to mention prices. For someone still finishing up my home, I’ve seen a 4x8 piece of OSB go from $8 to $33
Been reading a lot more tonight on welding chromoly and it’s beginning to to seem like to me that I need a mig welder and some er80s-d2 wire for it.

EDIT: I have so much to learn, I just read that I might be able to use my oxygen settling torch to braze and it would be just as strong. And apparently chromoly is a good candidate for brazing.

Well now you chopped off yer kickstand, parking is going to be a matter of finding the right tree to lean on.

Ok so I redesigned a little bit, I like this frame layout better. Bars are spaced so I can use a 4” exhaust pipe for the gas tank.
I have 1”x.083” chromoly and the exhaust pipe in route. I have decided to braze instead of weld. I think I have a much better chance of success that way lol

I like what you are doing. The template is a useful guide. A weld fixture using cheap Channel Sections | Unistrut
Couple builders use it. Just a thought.

I will look into what you have suggested. definitely looks helpful in my very brief glance.
Jeff Wolf, Culver City Classic's built his bikes using Unistrut to keep the frame geometry true.
