Do you have a steel supply near you, they usually have benders......Curt
'And I appreciate the info. I think leverage will be the key for sure. The 1” tube I cut off is roughy .077” thick. I’m guessing I can find something comparable at Home Depot."
Not.
Curt and Steve can correct me, but bicycle tubing is generally 4130 chromoly. As in aircraft frame tubing.
Home Depot it ain't.

Steve, gave you a good tip if you are unfamiliar with shaping steel tubing. Packing sand in the tubing and trapping it causes the out side of the bend to stretch while minimizing crush and collapse of the inner bend.
I don't know what your day job is. It takes a particular skill set to safely fabricate a bike frame. I Don't.
Consider your Night Rider, every frame joint is lugged and brazed. The tubing is chromoly steel. Just trying to keep you from breaking your neck Danny, if the Sporty doesn't first.

Tom
Remember Co Bappe's bike Vekst frame fabrication method? He drew a paper template to gage everything from.
Then again the Edison way works too.

Sorry Danny, type 4130 in search

Me? .083" Welding thin steel is a pain. Until you get your amps set right. Curt can counter me. My experience as a welder is quite limited. I repaired a lawn mower deck break with a flux core 110V.
At work using a gas shielded MIG is a total different cat. Practice a lot. blow outs in thin steel is common.

Thanks man, following that for sureCheck this out.................Curt
My latest project
I’ve had this girls bike around for years. It was my older sisters, she got it new for Christmas in 1959, but she didn’t want it any more and told me to scrap it. I have better ideas for it ! I have a little China girl 2 stroke that I wasn’t using so I decided to build another board tracker...motorbicycling.com
