With a new bike on its way, it's time to retire my old LTS and convert her back to a tame regular bicycle. It was fun riding and building her up but its time to put an end to this story. I forgot how much fun it is riding a non power assited bicyle. My new bike is at the powder coaters and it should be ready in a couple of weeks.

That's why I run my tires with as much air as they can handle. I stopped getting pinch flats years ago.
It's funny that you guys mentioned Slime. Last weekend I went on a 40+ bike ride with one of my buddies and he pinched his inner tube. He had that slime stuff in his tires and it was a huge mess trying to put a new inner tube on. He's now a firm believer in using thron proof inner tubes with kelvar tires

Goat Heads...Dead or Alive? I've tried the slime in my gopeds, bicycles and MBs and all the same results. A horrible mess

has anyone tried flat free inserts? Or solid tires ? I am tired of getting slime all over EVERYTHING , I have had several flat tires from nails and some that I think may be from being pinched. My question is to any one that has used airless tires. Are they as rigid and hard to ride as one might think? My bike is a hard tail and the only cushion i have is the spring in the seat and the air in the tires. Thanks

ER, Do these Morinis come stock with an alternator from Herdan or is it an add-on? The Morini Franco site lists it as optional. I'm looking at picking one of these engines up for my Monark project.

It's an add on item. All of the motors we have didn't come with a alternator.
If you get one of these motors, get the 5.8 instead of the 6.4. The 5.8 revs a lot higher.

Thanks for the info!! I ended up ordering the base model Morini 3hp engine, as I need something that will survive the 115+F summers here. Figured the lower compression would help out with that.

I'll probably pick up an alternator for it, as 55W 12V alt would be great!

okay i may seem a noob about asking this question, but could you tell me what kind of engnie that is? ive never seen it, and ive never seen one with a kick start? if someone could give me a link to this site where you get these that would be awsome. i have trouble starting mine and a pull start are hard to find for me online. so i think a kick start would be the way to go. that and i would give the bike a feel that its a true 2stroke.

That's a good motor. My buddy has one and it runs pretty strong and is quieter than the 5.8 motors. Best of all its also thinner.

Here's where I got my S6-E. You can buy pretty much the whole line of Morinis from here:

I would give Pipelyne a call first before you order one. Pipelyne is a Morini Dealer and could possibly get you a better deal.

Dean tried to call you back today but you have a restricted number. Call him back when you get a chance.

I tried calling that number too. There wasn't a voicemail message confirming that I had called the correct phone number but I left a message anyway. I just ordered 2 80cc engines from thatsdax but now I'm not sure I did the right thing. I know they're not really 80cc but that's how they're labeled. If this was my only hobby or interest I would have no problem shelling out the extra money for the morini engines. My my first passion is woodworking and my wife can attest to the money I spend on that. The thing I'm wondering is, will I end up breaking these chinese motors from dax after his warranty period and end up wishing I had ordered the morinis? OR. will I get a couple years of fun out of the dax motors for only $314 for 2 of them? One for me and one for my wife. Know what I mean?
Thanks for your help guys.

rfiesen i cant say much about thatsdax but as you already know, HT kits are way below par as compared to the morini engines. the GOOD thing is, all the HT running gear is compatible with the morini engine (aside from the engine mounts)

so if your mechanically inclined, and dont beat the supreme piss out of things and value your purchases you should get at least your moneys worth out of the HT 80's and upgrade in a year or so?!

id love to use a morini engine in a MB but, truth be told im starting to weight my options on motored biking. to me its transportation. im totally done with frame mounted MB's

the HT is a great little hobby engine if you ask me, but be prepared to look them all over and ask alot of questions. you really should replace all the hardware right off the hop with loctited, torqued, grade 8 stuff (or stainless steel) and check the fit of the intake and exhaust parts as well as bolt tightness.
have fun broja!

I have had pretty reliable time with the Spookytooth bike I got from them back in Sept 08. If you are a regular type of guy it should last quite a while, if you go as fast as it will go, the vibration will shorten it's life. The engine's not a high rpm Yamaha, it's a inexpensive put put that will do the job. BikeguyJoe has several of these bikes and say's they work for him, he's been at this for about 4 years.

I ordered a couple 70cc engines from thatsdax. I would rather have a mornini but I've heard people get many good miles out of these chinese engines if they treat them right. I'll need to learn more about how to improve these things when I get them.

That's true to a sense, however if you like speed (28-35mph with a HT) the life of these motors are not too long. Mine died after 500 miles but when I installed a quality wrist pin bearing and removed the bushing, it brought that motor back from the dead.
