So Cal
I built a man cave on the back of my shop, I used lumber from a barn that I used before I built my shop, I covered mine with vinyl siding that came off a building being torn down, it turned out to match pretty good.
Can anyone tell the deference in the two colors? They’re almost a perfect match. View attachment 111133

Thanks, I learned a lot from my dad who was a contractor. He passed away a year before I built our house, fourteenth years later I built the shop, then the man cave was added. I still do a lot of stuff but have to pick and choose my battles, I cut every tree to build the house but don’t anymore, I’ve got a crew coming next Saturday to take down several.

I painted mine a couple of times before I located the free siding, I matched the vinyl color of the shop. Mossy you can strip the joints and make it look good after a coat or two of paint.
I have to trim out my windows and whatever PVC lumber is left gets ripped into battons...

Just getting back to it and in the spirit of not spending any money on it I've caulked the seams and holes in the recycle metal with 3 different caulk Left over from other jobs... So when I put the cool seal down with tape on the seams I won't loose any falling through the holes... After I pressure washed all the dirt pine needles and grime off and out of everything... by the 4th coat of paint both sides then I'll put the trim on that's fitted and pre painted... I'm looking at 2'×2' louvered windows for green house... X6 of them... But I think I will get a roll of expanded metal like it already has...
Cutting the rafters to fit the door was interesting.... Cutting backwards with it over my head... But the prep is done and it's been hot and dry...

I got the wet patch puttyed into everywhere the caulk is still a little soft but by the time I get around to sealing the roof and doing it last...everything will have kicked off and a layer of the tape and 4 coats because it's thin and if you put it on too heavy it wrinkles... Anyway it reflects 90% of the sun elastomeric coating... About 6 light coats more or less and it's a sound deadener... It kicked my ass and will continue to kick it till the 30 gallons is done... But at least I have trim to do which is less monotony ;)

Made window trim and trim for the porch to get pre painted... May rain tomorrow but sunny for the next 7-10... Hi Temp in the low 80's so basically perfect for painting... As long as every day I do something I'm happy with that plus labor day was about 2 week holiday... The sooner the painting is done the better because I've got to do the baseboards inside where the lumber is and like to air the place out as long as I can before it's cold or it rains... Once the inside of the porch is dry or dry enough I can move the hardware store out of my living room then build shelving and whatever else... I have no waste and a pile of demo hidden in the lilac I have hauled off when it's to obvious...
