66cc 2 stroke bike quit turning on, I’m new to this please help!

hey I been reading this forum for a while and can’t find a solution so decided to make a post. I bought a used 66cc bike off someone it’s broken in beautifully and it was running amazing. I use it for work as a courier and I only rode it for one day about 6 hours. I sat down to smoke a cig and it wouldn’t start. I pedal release the clutch and it just rumbles and doesn’t turn on. Please help I love riding and it’s something I’m trying to get into. I will attach some pictures of the engine and bike itself

Nope I bought the bike with the kill switch wire disconnected maybe because he had that problem. But it ran perfect until about 8 hours of riding time. In 2 days of buying it

To check for spark remove the sparkplug and reconnect the plug wire, lay the plug on the head and push the bike with the clutch out, you should hear the engine turning over and you should see the plus fire.

I was waiting for night time to come so I could check and there are 0 sparks. Is it the CDI system that I need to replace entirely? Or can it be the coil in it?

okay I have a steady stream of sparks. What else could it be?

I cleaned the spark plug real quick and plugged it back in and it turned on right away I’m assuming I wasn’t getting sparks I’m guessing because I have a dirty engine maybe hasn’t been cleaned in years who knows. But i cleaned it pretty darn good and in 8 hours of riding before it stopped turning on it got tons of deposit and covered the entire inside part of the spark plug with it.

What should I take apart to clean the engine? And with what do you recommend cleaning it with (usual household items).

Change you fuel mix to 32/1 or 4 ounces per gallon, add the oil to the container first then fill it with gas, never mix fuel in the tank on the bike.

Also if the wire and boot are the kit one, should get a good one from auto parts store..........Curt

I took apart the engine and noticed the piston ring was cracked. Just ordered some new ones. This bike might have a couple thousand miles on it so far I’ve replaced my clutch cable and piston rings. What else should I replace that usually gives out first? I use it for work and can’t be waiting for things to break to replace. Thanks

I’ve heard it’s better for a 1/50 mix especially for a engine that’s used and already has deposits. I I’ll experiment see what runs better. I don’t have measuring cups so I go with half a gallon of gas and I put 3 bottle caps of oil which is about 0.7 oz

Is it that bad to mix fuel and oil in the tank? I will get a gas can so I can mix it there but for the mean time I give the bike a good shake for 45 seconds after I fill it with gas then oil. What can happen ?

You will either have fuel with no oil in it go to the carb or too much oil, 32/1 will work good. You can try what you want but if you want it to last I wouldn't go that lean.

hears an idea the top end for a 66 is only like 30 to 90 depends on what level of performance, the idea is not only to change the rings but the piston and cylinder should be changed out also putting new rings on a used piston and cylinder will most likely break early (I've just went through that)so I've figured that the piston and old rings have set grooves in the cylinder where they were together now if you put new rings in the grooves in the cylinder won't match up and causing more wear down because of the new stiff rings and used cylinder ,sooooo my suggestion would be to buy a new top end whatever style you get it will be new and it will wear evenly and groove it self to the new applacation then you go through the break in period again for new motors and that's a start to a fresh motor ,just an idea anyway ,good luck
