YD100 anybody got one?

As expected this thing loves the little pipe. Likes the stinger almost completely in. The Zeda with the big Stihl carb ran best with it nearly out. Pulls hard til it 4strokes at the very top. Meaning instead of a smaller jet it needs more load, like a higher ratio. I've run the crap out of the poor thing. If it survives its a good engine. Fairly impressed so far.
Will have to haul it down to our causeway to tune it, too loud around neighbors. For another day, too much sporatic rain.

Nice to know the common CG exhausts fit. I was worried the flange height dimensions may be different.

I cut down a stock muffler and tacked in on in a couple of different lengths till I settled on where it’s at, then I took the pipe off and welded it on.

That's a brilliant idea on the silencer!
Having a few of the mufflers laying around I took the shortest one cut the pipe and temporarily bolted it on. Its now decently quiet and as you said fattens the mid range with only a bit of loss of top end over the stinger. Will weld in place after I'm sure I'm through tuning it. Thanks!

I have to say the YD seems tough. I have thrashed it unmercifully and so far seems none the worse for it. Time will tell.

I cut mine at six inches, it was part of a broken muffler that I had been experimenting with, I welded a flat washer to the body and used a carbide rasp on my die grinder to open it up a little to slide over the stinger. I probably have two inches of stinger inside the muffler. It still sounds good, about like a stock YZ125 did when they were two strokes.

Mine sounds Just about like that. I used a gutted stock 8" muffler.
After riding the YD a good bit I have to say its a nice motor. It has run well from the beginning. Only had to raise the carb needle one notch to get decent running. Not much else, besides relieving the muffler. The pipe runs much better but its only on there because I already had it.

I installed a 40t sprocket. The 44 is just too low for this engine. Has the power to easily pull it and the cruise is way more relaxed. Another great thing is the reduction gears are virtually silent. Gonna put some miles on it now to see how it goes, but so far this has been the nicest CG I have delt with. BT 80 is next.

I have now found four different engine/pipe/kit combos on eBay, this will probably be a big hit as soon as people find out about the displacement. I hope someone looking for a true 80cc kit will give a review on the eBay kit below.

Been riding the YD a good bit, its getting broken in and is running great. I got suckered on the pre buy now they are $149. Mine was dropped shipped from Fast Bike Engines in Vegas. Last time I will buy from Bicycle Motor works!

Still I like the motor and 20 bucks isnt going to kill me. Its a good motor @ $169 even better @ 149. I'm sure the prices on the variations of this kit will come down as more sellers get them. Out of the box its a better motor than most CGs. I will leave it to the tuners to wring it out. I was looking for a pleasant daily rider and this one is it.

That's how it goes sometimes, I bought five GT2B Grubee 48cc kits in January of 2011 at a quantity discount of $171 each, they all came with a standard 410 chain and the cns2 carb. Now you can get what's probably equal to that kit for $89 on eBay. I have one of the eBay low end engines on my main bike that other than a blown base gasket this spring has not give any problems.

At $149 I'm getting closer to being interested. Only problem is too many people here know the difference in the little engine and the larger ones. When the 66cc had 6mm studs on the cylinder you could pass it off for a 48cc.

Got the YD today. Full kit ,seems good quality have seen worse. Pulled the jug sure enough was piston backwards. If they are all like this maybe thats the correct way. Turned it around any way. Cleaned a small bit of flashing from the ports greased the gears, not a wisp of grease as received. Port matched the gaskets spiffed up the cylinder with a bit of black paint and called it done. Cylinder doesn't appear chrome but it is hardened. Rod has large oil reliefs. Mag appears better than most, sposed to be hi perf. Plate on motor is FBM came from Fast Bike Motors. Hope its not F in Bad Motors!

What I did find was the stud spacing on the jug is larger almost to the point the Stihl jug could be fitted, also the 12mm wrist pin may fit with a proper size bushing food for thought. May get a chance to try it tommorrow.

How far off was the stihl jug? Was it close enough that the jug could be modified instead of the case to mount it?

Hey I'm not sure where to post this but i have been reading about cannon balls build and what not and i figure you know the most about these engines....
* NOT NEW TO MOTORIZED BIKES JUST THE BT80*
So problem: bt80 starts and revs but when i hit the throttle it wont go. Had the wheel off the ground still wont go, is it my clutch ? Please help my job is on the line (as far as transportation) please and thank you and anyone else that can help

Welcome to the forum, you would probably get more help if you started a thread on your problem. If I understand, when you let out the clutch the wheel doesn't turn, if so I would look there first.

Its an automatic clutch bt 80 electric start no handle to release. And thank you !
