12v generator help

New to the forum. 3 builds under my belt so far. The age old question that I can NEVER sort out: How to get proper lighting on a bike? I'd rather skip buying endless amounts of batteries and buying lights that fail after a week or two. I HAVE found a 12v generator that installs next to the magneto.

Do you need to connect it to an additional battery to create an "alternator" type of effect or would it power a light directly? I can wire a furnace but this is different to me. Please help.

A typical generator doesn't need a battery, I would read all I could on it before I bought it. I'm wondering how and where it will mount inside a 2_stroke that has very little room.

I did decide to purchase it after all and it mounts next to the magneto. You feed the wire out where the others come from and replace the cover. It fit like a glove. I'm getting light from the on/off switch I wired up. Probably just have a dead headlight at this point.

I saved the link, keep updating this thread, I'm sure a lot of people will be interested if it works. If you installed a small sealed battery the light output would be more stable. I'm thinking it may need a voltage regulator.
