Quite nice! The chain tensioner on the pedal side needed due to the swing arm suspension changing slight amount of distance center to center of the two sprockets as pivot moves when suspension bounces I understand. But then why would not the engine chain also need the same? Something I'm missing?

Pete it's good to see the bike out of crate & the updates are super. Though the progress on the bike is a plus I'd guess getting the move underway is what we should all be praying for. Posts from Spain would be even better. Rick C.

WIDENING BUILD No. 3's BOTTOM BRACKET AXLE...
Needed to widen the left side of Build No. 3's bottom bracket axle by 30mm to ensure the left side pedal avoided contact with the left side engine crank casing.
Purchased a pair of b/b axles and machined a 30mm section off one of 'em. Used a length of M8 threaded studding to secure the extension to the b/b axle as shown in the pics. I'll weld the assembly up solid sometime this afternoon.

EXTENDED B/B AXLE & TWO MORE CHAIN TENSIONERS INSTALLED...
Freshly welded-up extended bottom bracket axle now fitted, providing the necessary clearance required for the left side pedal to clear the engine case. After welding on the axle's 30mm extension, the axle was re-blackened by heating then quenching in oil. First pic shows the result.
Also installed two more chain tensioners - one to the primary chain and the other to the left side drive chain. Meaning all three chains are now correctly tensioned. The remainder of the pics hopefully depict how the sprung tensioners are intended to operate.
Bit the bullet and decided to unpack my lathe and turn down the primary chain's rear sprocket rather than wait until we're relocated to Spain. Sprocket's teeth were reduced from 3/8" wide to 3/16" in order to be compatible with the primary chain. Didn't really anticipate having to go to this much trouble but I had zero choice after finding it impossible to obtain a sprocket matching my Gnome Rhone motor's output sprocket. The freshly skimmed-down sprocket locates onto the 5/8" diameter jackshaft via a taper bearing. Neat.

Pete I used 3 tensioners on my Harley build, two spring loaded & the primary chain tensioner manually adjustable only.. Going on two years now with zero chain problems...though I tightened the primary one time. I believe you will find the chain noise greatly reduced as well as improved chain & sprocket life.

I really like the way your latest bike is turning out & the thought and skill you've put into the project. Rick C.

Thanks guys. Next job is to hook-up the clutch cable to the clutch lever on the underside of the motor. First I'll need to turn-up a suitable new nipple.
Having real problems trying to locate a 24" rear fender. None wide enough to fit over the bike's 24 x 2.35 Schwalbe tyre here in the UK. Resorted to appealing to folks via a wanted ad on Rat Rod Bikes forum - but so far, no joy.

Howdy folks, apologies for the lack of updates.
Just touching base to say the finishing line for our scheduled relocation to Spain is finally in sight. Had to wait an unexpectedly long time for my sister-in law's 'deputyship' to be granted by the Court of Protection, which will allow her to sign for my wife Jen's half of the house sale. The good news is I phoned the CoP on Friday and was told the deputyship order had been granted on Nov 20th and was winging its way to our solicitors. With luck, we should get things rolling later this week and be in a position to discuss and arrange moving in/out dates with our buyer - who I'm amazed has stuck with us since March when they made the offer to buy our place!
What with all the 24/7 care my wife Jen now needs, I have to admit I no longer have a lot of time to devote to working on build no. 3. Since my last post I did manage to fit the throttle/clutch cables - but since then, I've been sidetracked into working on the race-tuned flat-twin Citroen 2CV motor I'm building in anticipation of starting the DeFlyer kit car build I'm undertaking once relocated in Spain. So far I've got the engine/gearbox/driveshafts and inboard disk brakes sorted. Pondering a turbo set-up next....
I do still occasionally log-in to this forum to enjoy updates on Rick and Steve's build threads along with a few others. Hope to get back to posting my own updates once we're in Spain. Hopefully this side of Christmas if we're lucky!

Spectacular news Pete. It sounds you've a motivated as well as patient buyer.

We have missed your posts, but fundamental realities' supersede as they should.

I'd think the turbo would really bring the Citroen to life, but even without the addition of the charger your little beastie should put on a smile!

Great to hear from you Pete. How wonderful that your buyers are waiting for everything to be taken care of. I've been watching a chap from Wales on YouTube who uses the channel name Hub Nut. He is an automotive magazine writer/publisher and he has a 2CV that he is working on as well as an Invacar, invalid car and now I think his Fox/Robin panel truck.

He added larger cylinders to the 2CV. Amazing car to work on.
