EXHAUSTING TOPIC...
Been playing around with a couple of exhaust alternatives for Build No. 3. Pics show the pair of pipes I'm torn between. The larger s/s muffler was something I purchased a while back with a view to using it on DECOLINER - but the diameter of the muffler simply overpowered the bike so I stashed it for possible future use on another build. I did include it in a very early mock-up of Build No. 3 earlier in this thread and so I actually intended going with this muffler from the git go. But then earlier today I mocked-up a smaller, alternative tail pipe which I also like a lot. Sooooo, I'm going to have to indulge in a session or two of 'creative staring' in the hope of coming down on the side of a favourite. Check out the pics.
Actually, because I've used a custom-made flexible stainless polylock header pipe, it wouldn't be a problem to make both tail pipes interchangeable given a common mounting bracket. Then I could go with whatever takes my fancy.

OKC, OK
'Creative staring'............ Now that's a term I'll probably use in the future!!

As far as the exhaust, I'm with Rick on this one --- short one is perfect!

Phew! Just about finished-up packing everything in preparation for the move to Spain in a few week's time. Half the house furniture and fittings are presently listed on eBay - so I hope we get to make the move soon, otherwise Jen and I will be sitting on the floor in an almost bare house!
Which means I may yet have a few weeks to squeeze-in some more work on Build No. 3. This will probably be my last bike build for a while - 'cause I just committed to another car building project which I plan on undertaking once settled in Spain. I'm in the process of placing an order for a new car kit from a company located in the Netherlands. (If interested, log-on to deflyer.nl then click on the 'news' link for hundreds of pics showing how they've committed to developing this project). The 'DeFlyer' kit is Citroen 2CV flat twin powered. I just sourced a suitable donor engine which will be rebuilt and uprated before being installed in this project. See attached pics. Not bike related - but hey, I know (or at least hope) some of you guys will be interested...

What a great car. Citroen power and I would assume the factory front suspension as well. A handsome project indeed.

Steve.
Kit's new grp body bolts onto an entire Citroen Deux Chevaux (2CV) chassis. In my case, a brand new galvanised chassis. I'll have a UK company who specialize in preparing 2CV's for racing (yes, there is actually popular racing class for these things) modify the suspension arms to lower the ride.

WORK RESUMES ON BUILD No. 3....
Our upcoming move to Spain is held up pending a Deputyship application which will enable my wife's sister to sign-off the house sale on her behalf. Never saw that one coming - so I've uncrated Build No. 3 and picked-up where I left off prior to packing-up all our belongings in anticipation of the house move.
Pics here show the 3 x driveline chains & sprockets now installed. Left side drive chain from the jackshaft to the rear wheel sprocket is as yet unfitted with a tensioner. As fitted, chain length is perfect. So I may or may not fit a tensioner, depending on how much the chain stretches after putting some miles on this ride.
Right side pedal chain - which I'll only use for back-pedaling when applying the coaster brake - is fitted with a really cool eBay sourced tensioner pivoted from the derailleur bracket.
Primary chain is only temporarily installed 'cause it took me forever to locate a sprocket for the jackshaft which matched my Gnome Rhone motor's output sprocket. Only one UK supplier could sell me the correct chain for this particular application - and finding a matching sprocket proved impossible. In the end, the chain supplier sold me a 1/2" pitch x 3/8"wide sprocket and recommended I machine-down the tooth width from 3/8" to 3/16". My lathe and tools are all packed up ready for the move - so the machining will have to wait till after I get to sunny Spain. For the time being, I've pictured the primary chain installed round an incorrect sized sprocket to show how it'll look. Whether or not I'll need to fit a tensioner to the primary chain will depend on whether I can get away with using a half link - which the chain supplier provided.
The good news is all 3 x chains fit without any clearance issues. Almost like I designed it that way! Ha!!!
I've also rigged-up a neat arrangement to secure the rear rack to the frame. Look closely under the seat in one pic and you'll see I used a pair of chromed Munsen rings (same type I used to suspend the tank from the frame) threaded onto a pair of turned steel tube extensions. Turned out perfect.
