I suppose it is an acquired taste. I used to like Taylor Pork Roll. Supposedly it was what got George Washington and his men across the Delaware River. New Jersey had a hit for me, it came in a sort of mini burlap bag too! About 7 years ago I tried it and was not the same as a kid. I just could not believe the saltyness of the stuff. I tried to cut it paper thin to eat with pan cakes and waffles, but some how I guess I unaquired the taste for it by not continually eating it straight through for 50 years.

The computer geeks are saying what are they talking about? The only spam they know doesn't come in a can!
If you dry the spam out they make excellent paving stones. I was hungover once and the smell of spam frying was enough to make me ill. Yet, I still get a craving for it now and then.

Bully beef or canned corned beef was the Canadian and British as well as the Australian/New Zealand WW2 troops answer to Spam that the U.S. troops got. My parents liked it but I thought starvation was an excellent option. Very much like block of fat with meat bits in it and my uncle who was helping chase Rommel and as he said being chased by Rommel in the the desert would talk about draining the fat off and frying their hard tack that they had soaked in water to try and soften it.
My nephew is in our Nation Guard equivalent and when he was in Afghanistan he said their rations were a big hit with the U.S. troops and they could get some great trades when they could get extras.

Maybe if Spam has enough fat in it, you use it by setting it a fire to keep warm like Sterno cubes or Gel. Not sure you could get sick that way of using Spam. I know peanuts burn very well. There is a slightly dangerous trick, it is so you you look like your eating a burning candle. Carve a cylinder shape of apple and put a peanut on one end and light the peanut. Eating the candle (faux) by chewing in a way the apple cools the lit peanut and extinguishes it so you can digest all without burning your mouth or throat.

I love Spam.
Here we call it "Hawaiian steak". I try to eat my Spam last, like a dessert. In a "surf pack" box lunch, there's filet of breaded fish, barbecue beef, fried chicken and a slice of Spam. With rice, of course. In this order, I'll eat the fish, then beef, then chicken.....then Spam.
In fact, I had a Spam/rice roll as part of my lunch today.
I LOVE Spam. Sadly, because of its salt and fat content, it's too much of a good thing, so I don't eat it often.

Did the writers of That 70's Show know the line they gave Kelso to say had flaws? Canadian Bacon is really ham true, or Back Bacon. The name using the "Canadian" word in it as a modifier is false. Just what some one used, but is not Canadian in anyway as it says in the article. News to me!
