Here's why:

http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_b4DOc6VJX...C0w/vJB1UqBb-V0/s1600/226071-bigthumbnail.jpg

electric stuff that ain't wired right or which exceeds its limits can make more than just the "magic smoke" (that distinguished smell like a hot copying machine, when electronics go bye-bye).

Probably not $1799

Around Christmas, someone was selling some new Cranny CG's on CL for $250.

Now, another seller here has electric bikes for $1799!

I can't see why anyone would pay $1800 for an electric bike!
(Maybe it's just me. I'm cheap!)

An electric motorcycle would be a blast but I don't know how safe it would be cause nobody can hear you, unless you've got a serious sound system playing motorcycle noises LOL!

They advertise less than a penny a mile and 80% battery strength at 100,000 miles of usage. That is $1000 for fuel to go 100,000 miles compared to about $3,500 on a MB. Figure in the cost for buying the thing up front at $10,000 brings the price up to about 11 cents a mile which still beats a regular motorcycle which gets like 50 MPG and costs around $5,000 for a 650 or so engine. So if you add it all up the gas bike is gonna run like 13 cents a mile and that's a big if you got 100,000 miles on it not to mention oil changes...never seen a bike with 100,000 miles on it.

One more point if you lived in an RV park that includes all utilities it'd be free fuel LOL

I don't trust the claims ebike manufacturers are making. The batteries never last as long as claimed, and are very expensive to replace. All my battery powered tools always run out of juice before I'm ever finished with what I'm doing.

The one ebicycle I've ridden only went about 18 mph, and 20 miles on a charge. Even the Atomic BB, which is 48cc goes over 10 mph faster. No thank you.

I agree I shelled out $400 for an e-bike kit lasted like less than 100 miles the thing burnt up on a small hill. It was very cool for the short time it lasted but was a real lemon experience for me.

I like the idea of electric bikes, but for now, they are too heavy, expensive, and unreliable unless you have electronics experience and $10000 upfront.

I built a grubee bike for less than $500, and a friction drive bike for about that, and both get 75+ mpg.

It's going to be so nice tomorrow. Supposed to be 82 and sunny. I'm going ride down to lower greenville. If anyone wants to meet me send me a pm, or post here. I probably won't leave the house till noon. I saw a scooter bar I want to investigate that had good parking.

I'll be on the Cadillac

Cool, let us know how you like it. We can add it to the 40mi Dallas route.
I rode 40 miles today. My bike runs like a clock. Eventually I ended up at a scooter bar on lower greenville. What a interesting crowd they have. It's kind of like Strokers, except instead of all Harley's, there's scooters, Triumphs, BMW's, Honda's, a great looking X6 Hustler, a GT 500, Ducati's, Harley's, and more scooters. There were a lot of scooters. Not that many new scooters, mostly classic Lambretta's, and Vespa's from the 70s. Even a few bicycles, but I had the only motor bicycle.

The parking lot was so packed they had to have a parking attendant to help the bikes get in and out. Of course I could just thread my way through the mess and park in front of the door. Turns out I parked in the kings personal parking place. It was ok though, because it was my first time there, and everyone wanted to look at my bike. Seemed like everyone there was a life long rider like me.

It turns out this bar, I never could remember the name, is the home hangout of the DFW Scooterist club. That should tell you all you need to know, about what kind of toughasses were there. 5 martini's later we were all the best of friends.

Finely the sun started getting a little low, and I started feeling the pull of the road. Just to play it safe I had locked my bike. This serves two purposes. 1, it helps keep people from stealing my bike, and 2 since all my numbers are rubbed off my tumblers, it keeps drunks from unlocking my bike lock. Since I managed to unlock it after a few tries, I knew I wasn't too drunk. 15 miles later I was home safe and sound.

One more thing. Next week they're having a rockers vs mods rally. let's go and show them what real he men ride.

re: rockers vs mods. I don't know which I'd feel like calling myself, but surely they'd just probably yell "pussy" like always. hahaha. Fighting over who rides what bike is retarded, so I just don't listen to them. Last time the cafe racer mc guys showed up at a local bar near me, I was riding bicycles, with some people I guess you'd call hipsters haha. The MC people yelled out "ONLY HIPSTERS AND GIRLS RIDE BIKES (bicycles)." Then the kept driving on the sidewalk by the shop and revving thier bikes exhaust through the doorway. They eventually settled down and ate some pizza and got their beer. I don't know if they were really trying to start anything or just being loud.

Anyway, the hipsters banned me for riding a MB. hahahaha

These are mostly just scooter guys, and girls. I think the 2 of us could beat the crap out of all of them at once lol, but I doubt it would come to that.

There was only one guy there acting half way tough. He was on his Harley. I started picking on him the minute I showed up lol. After the fourth time I walked up to him and said, are you still here, he started to catch on. After that we were laughing it up.

I don't think there were any hipsters there. This crowd were mostly older riders, and oddballs, but friendly ones. All the hipsters I see are over by the Katy trail, and Deep Ellum.

Sunday when I was out riding I cut through highland Park, and purposely rode right past the police station. One police car drove by, but just kept going the other way.

I also came to a stop sign at the same time a Dallas police car pulled up. He motioned for me to go first, so I waved at him, and drove off. He went the other way too.
