IM learning alot from this thread. thanks guys. The bike is on a halt as of right now. I cant find a replacement intake manifold looking thing. I guess it is made if cheap material and it cracked on the welded part. Any suggestions where to get a replacement and I might as well go performance IF it even helps. It leaks gas from the carbs and its pissing me off because its making the back part of the apartment smell like gas.

After you fix the gas leaks, place a thick towel atop the gas cap of the fuel tank to absorb fumes. I do that on my bike.

Shut off the petcock whenever you park your bike to minimize the gas leak. Getting the newer style carb with a petcock on it will stop the leaking completely. I keep my bike in my living room.

I cant find a replacement intake manifold looking thing.
The intake manifold is available at most any of the advertised dealers on the sides of the forum, the standard intakes are cheap, like $3-5 dollars.
I haven't used an aftermarket intake yet so I have nothing to offer there...

Do you know anyone that does welding or brazing? Your intake looks to be steel, if so it may cost about the same as the shipping to Guam to have someone repair it.

I think I have that intake problem solved. Now looking to get a better carb IF theres such a thing as an upgraded carbs and will put out a better performance compared to stock. BTW I got a new giant biek I can mess around with in the near future if the results of this is stunning.

Everyone seems to be out of the N2 carb with the red air-filter but boygofast on eBay has some of the ones with the black square filter that people call the "speed" carburetor. This is the one I have on my bike and I can't tell if there are any differences, they appear to be identical.

Disclaimer: Lots of people have had trouble with boygofast and though I'm not one of those people, I feel I should bring it up. I just ordered another engine and speed carb from him, I'll let you know if everything gets here properly if you want to wait.

it helps to shut the petcock off a block from home then idle till she shuts herself off. sometimes it also stops the thief from a quick getaway hopefully.

Hey Mike,

What is the bore on your new 'speed carb' ?
Does it have and adjustable idle mixture needle jet?
BG is not real great abt his pictures...

I'm kinda really tired of messing with my cns48... :)

Tnx

Did that little mod on the exhaust today. I feel the difference from stock BUT only when the bike freshly turned on. When it gets hot I can barely feel the difference between before and after the mod. Waiting a couple of parts maybe sometime this week itll be here and pics will be posted.

Carb just got here from BGF, I think it took 3 days? It came with a black version of the NT filter, it has "HB" on the side, and the carb looks IDENTICAL to my speed carb. Externally they are definitely the same sans a few supplier differences. I'm inclined to believe the NT, speed and this HB carb are one and the same.

As far as the bore, it's the same as every china-girl carb. They have to all fit on the same intake pipe, yes? Idle-needle; No china-girl carb has an idle needle. Only the CNS carb has one but the CNS carb is NOT a china-girl carb, that's a 50cc pocket-bike carb. That's why it never fits right and has those extra unused nipples; those go to vents on the tank/intake/etc. It's prolly also why you guys have so much trouble tuning them.

And as an added bonus, BGF includes an o-ring to seal the intake to the carb.

IM looking to get this speed carb
NT 80cc/66cc Speed Carburetor
In the description it says its a redesign for a 80cc motor BUT I dont even
know the displacement of my motor. Will it matter in any way?
Also when riding and im about half throttle the motor seems to have like a
popping noise and when speed picks up it goes away. Is this normal?

My first bike did that when it was new, I checked the head for leaks checked the base gasket etc. but could not locate a leak. It was like a flutter at mid range, but went away at about 350 miles.

Cool, my bike is still in the break in process. This thing drives me nuts. It takes so long to finish half a gallon. : )

That's the carb you want.
OK thanks. Anymore inputs on the carb before I go out and get the wrong one.

Few parts finaly arrived. Replaced the leaking exhaust gasket I ordered from SBP and also the intake I recieved from one member here on the forum. I also ordered the intake filter and dropped right in. I will be taking a pic of the bike as soon as I get my camera back. What is really needed to tune these kind of engines? I can see my spark plug is too dark meaning rich so how do I find out the right replacement for this. Id rather buy it locally than ordering itll take another week to arrive. Im thinking or ordering ignition parts. Will this help to make it go faster a little? Or get rid of the single speed and go with a multi speed and get a shift kit?

If you ordered the sbp air filter it should help with a rich condition, on my first bike after adding the sbp filter I had to drill out the main jet. Those filters allow much better air flow than stock. NGK plugs are what most run in these engines, b6hs is most used. I use the BP5HS one step hotter with the extended tip, my set-up likes it better.

Rode the bike to work today and noticed that the lowend torque suffered. What does this mean? Is it taking in too much air or something needs to be adjusted. Next for me is bigger carbs and expansion chamber from SBP.
