Toasted engine!

For anyone who was on the Mach 7th ride & was wondering what happened to my engine?
I took the engine out & found this... (a broken ring wedged between the piston & port) :(
It really bummed me out because it was running soooo good before it died!
BTW this was a 2.5 year old engine from my old engine supplier, (not a Raw engine.)

A match made in heaven, till she threw her ring at you. Then she up and dies. That's rough. ***plays taps***

you could JB weld the ring back together and loc-tite your head bolts. that should hold it.

sarcasm, my friend. i've had work trucks that didn't last 2.5 years, and i didn't drive them near as hard as i ride my bike.

if my engine goes that long, i'll be amazed.

i wanna know what happened to you and the bike when that happened. did it lock up? throw you off?

just wondering, cause y'know, i like to go really fast, and i wanna be prepared. or, at least know what i'm in for.

No crash, nothing spectacular at all... I heard a metallic ticking sound for about a half mile before it died, then it started losing power real fast, so I pulled the clutch & the engine just stopped dead with a clunk! then I coasted to the side of the road.

I wasn't suprised that it died... A few weeks before I converted the bike into a board tracker, the engine started running way faster than it ever had in it's life, & I think the old engine just couldn't handle those extra high revs!! :(

That's so funny, they always seem to run really good right before the give up. Norm's better half and I were waiting on the side of the road waiting for everyone to catch up =P and when Norm rode by us she said,"Norm's bike sounds like $#!T" It couldn't have been more then 10 seconds after she said that, that the engine locked up. Nothing like breaking down right next to a friends house...

let us pray!!!!!.flg.

At least put a sheet over the head. No one wants to look at a dead body.

Isn't that always the way. Two and a half good years and then no warning, they toss the ring at you and it's all over.

Then your friends say "I'm surprised it lasted that long".

Hope you can patch things up.

Steve.

It's a tricky thing...knowing when to pull the jug and check the ring locating pins.

I haven't run one of these long enough to find out where that tell-tale point is; but from dirt bike experience...it usually follows after a slight boost in RPM's.
