Thanks gents, the one 5-7 posted is 76 dollars!! Whoa!!

Its going on a 212 build with direct drive from a 10 tooth clutch so i need the big gear. I already have a 41 chain setup.

Yeah. The reason I said run the gold 35 chain is cause I know your setup is gonna fail. For starters 41 is crap, 212ers run at least 420 better a 428 gold chain. A 212 is going to eat it up. 41 chain is real weak even for 4hp. Because of the small tooth count on the 10t it will eat the sprocket the moment the chain goes bad. This means new clutch. A worn sprocket will eat up any new chain you put on even if it is 420 chain. On the primary where rpms are higher you need to think about minimum tooth counts and chain link angles, and link acceleration. In your case only a primary. A minimum 14t anywhere is ok. 35 gold chain is good stuff.

Just got my 212 project rolling and am inclined to go along with Tony01. The 415 chain that came with the kit is not holding up... I only have about an hour of test use and it has stretched as if made out of pot metal. I don't trust it.

I ordered a 41 chain replacement in hopes it would fare better, supposedly it is stronger. Not so sure I will get much better results. The limitation is the primary sprocket on the torque converter and the rear sprocket / hub adapter setup, both for chain with 1/2" roller spacing which effectively limits me to these smaller soft wimpy chains.

Can someone recommend a replacement primary sprocket for the (comet?) torque converter and a rear sprocket and hub mount that will properly accommodate a 428 chain?

You can run 420 off the tc,it will last; even a sprocket on the rear made for 415 will still work for 420 it just will eat the chain a bit faster. But I've been using 420 and a thin rear and it's been fine. My bike sees about 120mi a week.

Thanks Tony, I will look for some 420 and give it a go. Anything's got to be better than that 415 El Cheapo chain as provided.

My 212 build is crude but getting refined fast. Thanks for the input. I did not screw with that "one size fits all" aluminum hammock-mount. Instead a fully gusseted 1/4" steel plate arrangement that is rock solid. Everything on the (admittedly basic) build came out to expectation except that chain.

Still lacking - decent fuel hose and a credible gas tank.
