KOOOOOOOOOOOOL! Thanks for the picture and the details of the drive. I would build one in minute if i could drive it on the streets. Not aloud here without license here.

Moto K is there a close up of the front springs? Might think of building one for parades and farm show travel, instead of walking.............Curt

Yes, that'a the catch. 4 wheels and now it's an automobile. Where could you ride it? Fun concept, though. Front suspension could just be two matching moped forks. I happen to have a pair of Suzuki k-10 forks that would sure smooth out the ride. I'd have to put a single wheel in back and have it be a kind of tri-car. There's a thought...

SB! my thoughts are the same belt drive even with a differential,you could change the pulleys easy.

If the shifter is on the fender of that tractor you found it may have the vareiable drive setup that has a split pulley in the center of the drive system. You can just move the lever to shift on the go.

both video-clips are great!
That senior's hybrid is a little over-powered with 7 KW generator? He could fly with it over asphalt with bigger wheels on lawn-mover. For my HPV-qaudricycle, one 700 Watts generator should be fine.

Hello CurtissFox,
Maybe something as on attached photos could be good for motorised-bicycle, or velocar? System is old almost a century, but become famous (in Europe) by DAF automobiles with Variomatic transmission. It seems that antic Zenith-Gradua motrocycles had manual operating system of changing distance between disks, at least at front/primary disk? Story says that they were so succesful that were banned form races against other mostly singl-speed motorcycles...

And how neat is that! The more I delve into these old machines it seems like every good idea has already been thought of by those who came before us. That *** powered Zenith is a beauty! Thanks for sharing the photos.

Can we get a moderator to adjust the settings here? Every time you put in the old British engine name, you get asterisks, and it's pointless and annoying to have to stop and put the dots in.

[FONT=Comic Sans MS, cursive]Good for Europe: automobiles could have 3 or 4 wheels and motorcycle is just with 2 wheels, but as I wrote once: there are a few categories interesting for us: bicycle with assistance (up to 250 Watts electric-motors only, and speed up to 25 km/hour), then light three-wheelers and quadricycles (with moped 50 cc engine, or electric-motors or diesel-engines up to 4 Kilo-Watts, with speed up to 45 km/hour)...

I think about cheating a little: first add electric-motor up to 250 Watts, register it like that and later add more power – but, drive it in pensioner way, without making troubles and annoy people or officers.

Later I could add some style on it. Only, I have to cut upper tubes on frames for easier step-in and step-out (my pair of MTB is of men type). Easier way would be to make lighter 3-wheeler just for me and sometimes add trailer for my lady (or various freight), as some rickshaw had, but my lady refused to be pulled as one over-grown kid... She prefer to seat in a carriage, the best if side-by-side...[/FONT]

[FONT=Comic Sans MS, cursive]You could make front suspension in any way you like, because Duryea Brothers did the same, in spite that they managed to make the first practical American automobile and started the first industrial production of automobiles in USA. They models mostly have 4 wheels, but there were version with 3 wheels... In most of the cases: chassis, suspension and body were in carriage style, but some are "modern" with double elliptic or ¾ elliptic or ½ elliptic springs... Sometimes front spring are parallel with frame, sometime across the frame, sometimes quite strange layout... They used chain transmission mostly, but belt transmission or friction drive as in shown example, too...
