I am running Tanaka's 2 stroke oil

I ran the first 20 ounces of fuel at 16:1 and then since then I have done 24:1. I miss all the smoke comin out of it at 16:! :P

Anyways, whenever I go to fill up my half gallon tank I find it rather frustrating to mix the oil. In my situation I can't go buy a gas can so I mix it at the pump. Just my dorm room and I can't store gas in there. What I've been doing is using a syringe like thing that measures 2oz. I mix that with 0.375 gallons of gas to get 24:1. Later I can do 0.5 gallons at 32:1.

Now, the whole perk of this tanaka bottle is that it has a measuring thing inside of it. At half a gallon it gives you 1.3oz.
Tanaka says that it makes for a 50:1 ratio. If I use that half gallon measuring portion of the bottle, would you say 50:1 is to lean? For this engine. Even though it says good for any air cooled 2 stroke.

I would run that oil at somewhere between 40-50 to 1 and not worry a bit.
16:1 was WAY too much oil! even for break-in!

You will most likely need to re-jet, but that's good.. you will get btr performance.

Oh, I forgot...
IMO

Yes, Tanaka recommends 50:1 ratio in all of their 2-strokes and Tanaka oil is a high quality oil.

None the less I would not run leaner than 40:1 in a china girl with this oil.

Yeah 16:1 was more on accident. I knew 24:1 but I was being forgetful. Runs great on 24:1
I'll stick to 32:1 after break in. I'll see if I can measure my own 2 oz line in the upper chamber of the bottle.

Tanaka has a catalytic converter or catalyst in its muffler. If you run richer than 50:1 for long periods of time, you can ruin the muffler.
