Thanks for the info. I don't know the origin of the attack or it's target. My bank has had recent and similar breeches involving financial transactions through Google, and they believe It's Google that was hacked and my credit card info stolen. I don't know, but about 3/4 of the funds stole were returned to my bank account today. Two other transactions were charged to my cell phone provider and this is still in limbo, but my bank said they will back any of my losses.

After dealing with my cell provider yesterday, not helpful at all, I decided to close my account with them and find a new provider. My cell is several years old, so I purchased a new one. My bank cancelled the old card and issued me another. I'm being proactive in this. I dislike thieves on principle so no more point of sale transactions with my personal card. Paying through PayPal only from now on.

I will keep a vintage look on the gauges, but I want actual functionality from instruments. It can have both...as you said I like the character of old. I really like the Henderson, Excesior and Indian fours. All with the same heritage just different companies extending the Ace production. Take your pick all are winners.

Thanks for the video!

There are some Credit Cards that allow to create another Virtual card linked to the physical card that is less risky to use online possibly. The Virtual Card that is really of the same account as the credit card suffices to use. The physical card is still staying the same and use in person where you trust to use it. For the Virtual Card use it once and then replace with another Virtual Card. Lock the card when after the transaction posts and many sites just pend is all that is needed. So after pend shows up, switch to new Virtual Card Number to replace last one and Lock it. A little quirky, but maybe helps some.

Is this what it has come to?

Years ago I quit using checks in public and now only write two a month for bills. I use only debit cards issued by my bank and the first time I did use use as an alternate POS transaction in years this occurs. I know Paypal is safe to run all transactions through or as safe as there is and it's simple. No dodgey solutions envolved.and they stand behind their customers and do their best to eliminate fraudulent vendors and protect the consumer from monetary loss. I found my bank is cut out of the same cloth.

Yeah I guess this is where we're at.

Thanks and right you are Tony. Some might say, and with perfect reason, that my not posting is a relief. My little situation was not at all traumatic, but still needed some attention to correct and offset. I did get back to some bike maintence yesterday afternoon and it was such a nice day temps in the high eighties here and things in general are great.

Getting back in the shop feels good and I have a long list of things to complete, none complex just a lot.

Getting cell service connected will take a few more days as new phone delivery is scheduled for no later than Saturday? So no phone calls to interrupt me!

Well I'm 100% whole after the hack.

This is a very long post, just a heads up, more electric stuff that many might not care about.

Update about regen braking, most direct drive motors and their controllers work in regen mode back feeding to a lithium battery regardless of having or not having a built in BMS. A internally geared motor hub or mid motor with a Sprag type clutch won't work to provide regen (unless the clutch is modified to lock it up) the drive train can't use a free wheel on the rear wheel either. The motor has to drive forward and reverse to use as a motor and a generator. Direct drive motors work in both direction so they are ideal. Motors which are internally geard but modified as I described, can only work for regen braking if all the drive gears are straight cut, helical gears won't take the force of the motor driving as a generator or for that a motor used to reverse a cycle or go cart etc. too much thrust force on these small helical to stand up driving in reverse direction as a generator but excellent as a motor.

I have found no reason or coherent reason that the multi battery parallel balancer won't work on regen if one selects a motor and controller designed within the parameters as descibed above. Several factory bikes run the dual battery setup using a parallel balancer with no problem and lithium Ion packs with BMS and of the same voltage. Radio control guys use flat packs a lot with parallel pack power, without BMS, but they balance periodically to stabile pack voltage. Scooter guys run with or without BMS, flat pack or 1860 lithium packs. Most of these are dual motors and many dual battery packs with BMS or manual balancing. Some are using parallel battery pack balancers also others hardwiring their packs in parallel, but always running matching voltage. So none of this is theory. I'd say the RC guys know more about lithium battery power, both theory and actual design and ultra powerful high performance use than any. Scooters really very knowledgeable too. In general most ebike guys just buy what a company sells and most sales material is just that or non existent.

Guys like Tony01 know because they design, build and ride a lot. I appreciate his input ...all input 'cause I sure don't know it all, just learning.

Learning to actually build and ride an electric isn't intuitive and though not really complicated, it's strange. One thing that I know is significant, is that riding hilly or mountainous terrain with regen braking creates a lot of heat both ascending and descending, in both diections. Component life will be very short if one doesn't noth learn & remember this. Just coasting down a hill you don't cool with regen the motor just gets much hotter with the heat already high from the climb up the hill. Cooling only occurs on the flats, wherever they are encountered, so significant reduction of speed is necessary to cool down on flat sections. Staying cool is really vital, especially using regen in hills.

So I'm temporarily rigging up my analysis meter to get a grip on real time system performance of the Ol' Crow and will rig up a permanent mount for GPS and the analist later.

Long post, sorry...

I'm wiring up my temporary gauges today and will start gathering data from rides tomorrow on Ol' Crow all my connectors and wiring will be used on the gauges permanent mounts so I won't have to make up additional battery cables.

I also figured a way to temporarily rig my laser tach to get loaded rpm info from the bikes rear tire. I don't need this permanently mounted just securely mounted, lol.

I'll take a few photos.
