Unfortunately I didn’t take pictures of bending the drop loop. I started with some roughly 1” dia. SS tubing that I dug out of a recycling bin at work. I used a manual conduit bender and my hydraulic press to form it to the shape I was after. I purchased a cheap tubing notcher from Harbor Freight to notch the ends, so I could tig weld it together. .

On a side note, I’ll be out of the shop for awhile as my wife is going in to surgery today for some major spine/ neck surgery. They are going to fuse her entire spine starting at C1 down through C7 as well as removing the bones from the back of the spinal column in that area. Poor girl has osteoarthritis and has had three past spine surgery’s and is still in extreme pain. Hopefully this one will give her some relief. Praying for a positive result.

Prayers for your wife Ob, spinal surgery is risky business. For what it is worth, the Chinese use the essential oils of frankincense and myrrh as an anti-inflammatory treatment of osteoarthritis.

Well the operation lasted 4 hrs but they were successful

Spine surgery is a crap shot on a good day I am sorry to say. Autoimmune diseases and cancers are mostly genetic abnormalities. Medical science is on the cusp, as in stage 2 clinical trial of repairing faulty genes.
If not for us, that future generations should suffer less.

They had her up and walking already this morning when I got here. Surgery must have been successful as she already has more feeling in her right leg, hand/arm. Lots of pain in the surgery area, but they are controlling that with lots of little happy pills. She’s doing great and the prognosis is positive. Keep praying !

The release spinal nerve compression with few side affects. We live in an age of science based miracles.

Well I was able to get out in the shop for a few hrs the last couple of days as the wife was sleeping. Grabbed some 1/8 x 3/4 flat strap and cut and bent six mounting tabs for the rear rim/pulley. Today I was able to get them brazed on. Next step will be to dismount the tire, true up the wheel, drill and countersink the mounting holes, the reassemble. Once I have the rear wheel assembled I can continue on the frame modification.

It is good to see you using a correctly proportioned drive sheave. Keith has fought belt slippage troubles.
But he used a Whizzer sheave on his Excelsior tribute machine. Which for the weight of it all is sadly under sized.
