CDI cap wont fit spark plug

Ok so I'm two steps away from trying the first start up on my bike build. First I'm taking the muffler(and bike) to muffler shop to have it heated and fitted. And this darn spark wire cap wont go onto the spark plug(ngk b6hs), already chipped off some of the plastic trying to push it on. Any help with that one. Read somewhere to replace with one from like a lawnmower, but whats inside the CDI and how to replace the wire. Thanks. .crt. dance1
 
Have you tried removing the threaded ferrule from the spark plug then snapping the cap onto the spark plug?
 
the metal tip on the spark plug is threaded on,the plug cap wont snap on with the metal tip installed.iffn you break the cap a good replacement is ngk LB05EP will accept plug with cap on LB05FP will accept plug with threaded tip removed.
the wire unscrews from the cap and coil.

The wire in most later CDIs is glued in as well as threaded. You might have to use a small sharp tool to dig the wire out of the CDI. Be careful. At the bottom of the little tower where the wire goes is what looks like the threads of a wood screw. If you break that off you'll have to order a new CDI.

:-|| lol spark plug end screwed right of and cdi wire snap right in. dance1 If it works good then dont have to change wire right? Thanks for the help everybody, have asked some questions on other threads in motorbicycling and found a solution for all of them......we.

As long as the ignition wire is long enough for you, no, there's no reason to replace it. Keep in mind that the kit supplied plastic boot is not the best and down the road it could fail. If/when that happens replace it with a good automotive quality plug boot. When you do that you'll need to put the cap back on your plug. Automotive boots need the cap for a good electrical connection.

I am having the same issue ... How was this fixed?
 
What are you asking? The factory supplied cap only fits spark plugs with the brass end removed, you should have a small threaded stud on top of the plug.

Greg, After unscrewing the the tip I was able to attach spark plug... thank you.
