Yah! but the VHT is some Damnn Good paint!! and by the time I get through with other stuff I'm cool! you should try the brake caliper paint dry and cure is quicker and has a temp rating of resistance up 900`F 400`C I used it on the engine casing and you can't tell the color from the natural aluminum of the head

Thanks, I have a new Flying Horse motor on the shelf that I think I'll paint all black. That motor is going in my Deep 6 when I start building it. The problem is I'm having so much fun riding the Atomic BB, I just don't have much motivation to get started.

Right now it's parked in my living room so I can enjoy looking at it's awesomeness, and get inspiration for how I'll build it.
 
i like the 1000'c header paint i pick up at the auto parts store its if completely heat resistant any more and the metal becomes a soft gel
 
Just be careful because it will chip until you've ridden it enough that the cermic compound heats up and bakes the paint, you can however heat your oven (to warm as stated on oven heat control knob) and let the head sit for about an hour, but I wouldn't put anything in the oven that cotains rubber or plastic compounds bushing,gromits, ex,ex, and keep the oven door cracked then after an hour just turn the oven off and let it cool down to the touch the reason you keep the oven door open is to allow the fumes to escape without blowing the place up.
Here are a couple of pics of Ol' Blue and the engine I used ceramic paint for the engine case (not baked) cylinder and head as well as SB clutch and Magneto covers baked

Ol' Blue looks darn good. You are an artist.

I checked the VHT can. It's for up to 2000 degrees, and it says it's a silica-ceramic coating.
 
All you are trying to do is to harden the paint before you get to wrench'n, this will just re-insure protective messures agaisnt chipping should you have an OOOPS! moment with the wrench,it will get harder as you ride the bike and increase the temp of the engine, just thought you'd like some pre-cautionary advice when using a ceramic based paint, hope it works for you.

i use this on headers and they are under cars it works great.
i also use a lower temp duplicolor only 500* but great for engines and comes in alot of colors.
i must say ol blue is gorgeous
 
Thanks! for the info I have a can of Dupli-Color and a can of VHT sitting in front of me right now
 
I dropped a wrench and it hit the clutch arm cover and chipped it so now I have repaired it and will re-install, Dupi-Color ceramic,you just have to be careful of that stuff until it reaches a certaian temp then it gets hard and wont fade.

Watching the 9-11 attacks on America as I post and thinking I'll sign off for the evening in memory of those who Un-Justly lost their lives that day on 9-11, Little hard to concentrate on bikes when remembering that day .

This is my next build, DON"T WORRY!!! the Indian is first and foremost
this is what I bought and this is what I'm going for, I'll have Dan at Taylar Bikes do a bent back bone,center bar and tank, color will be either a 1920's Mead Ranger Carmel or the Blood Red that the 1911 Indian is painted with the same color rims as the bike.

And I like those rims, they would look good on a old 28" metal clad wood rimed bike I have...

I wonder if it's possible to just get the rims and if they have 36 spokes?

Those rims are 36 spoke rims,back and front, Shimano CB-E110 coaster brake hub and looks like 12 gauge spokes too,solid one piece crank with 1/2" peddle thread reception, the bike was $149.99 with tax and shipping total was $202.17 through Amazon who's supplier is Nashbar, you won't find the bike any cheaper anywhere else then Amazon(Gran Royale-Union Flyer,Medium size frame)they usually run $299.99 and up everywhere else, colors are red, blk,green & blue(girls same colors + yellow) it's my opinion that for the cost of $202.17 it is well worth it for parts,vintage frame modifications for M/B , parts for a restoration and ++ whatever else? I ordered Electra cream colored Amsterdam 700cx40mm(reminisant to the old 28"s) tires and there is plenty of clearance room between the tires and fenders
Good old fashon Schwinn Quality,A VERY NICE UPPER-END BIKE!!! I did a lot of research on this bike before I bought and read a lot of reviews from very saticified customers.
I have to get the Indian finished before I build this bike so when I'm done with that I'll get another post going on it, I'm going to use all the parts that have come in the kits I never used on previous builds,not so much customizing this time so it shouldn't be so drawn out on the build.
