Greg makes a good point about thinking outside the box, a mill can do turning and facing quite handily.

I think only time I actually got time using a lathe was in high school auto shop. To recycle the copper on windings of starters and alternators, they were chucked on a lathe. A little scary shoving a chisel (though clamped and adjustable) to scrape away just the copper wire. Cardboard boxes full of the stuff got to recycle.Rick seeing your lathe reminded me of how much I miss the access to the machine shop where I retired from, it’s been over six years since I’ve used one but I probably could figure it out.
