I've had trouble with a few 49cc 4-stroke carbs, & for the life of me, all the cleaning & re-adjusting in the world just wouldn't fix them; so I found a solution... I made a steel manifold that bolts a 2-stroke 'HT' carb onto the engine!!
I had to jet the carb two sizes bigger to get it to work right, but the engine seems to like it! (I still want to play around with other jet sizes & needle settings).
