So me and my step dad put this thing together a week ago. I live in Maine and the weather is very cold. We started it up first try and it ran great a few days ago ! After that it sat for a day and then I picked it up from their house and brought it to mine with a buddies truck. Stored it in the garage and didn't try to start it again until yesterday. Now it won't start! WTF. I've tried choking it, bleeding it to make sure it wasn't flooded, I wire brushed the spark plug to make sure it was all set. The fuel line is open, and when I'm not trying to start it i close it. After pedaling and releasing the clutch the engine fires up, but when you give it throttle... Nothing happens. Then it just bogs out and shuts off. But if I keep pedaling it stays on. Why the **** is this happening ???? Is it too cold out for the brand new engine or is something else the culprit?? Please help me !!

It's weird though, the engine starts but it won't stay on even when I mess with the choke. Very frustrated !
Hearing the engine turn over doesn't mean it is running. This is what I do, turn the fuel valve on, hold the tickler button on the left side of the carb for about 5 seconds, lift the choke and pedal to at least 5 mph and release the clutch. Pedal till you hear the engine fire, once it fires you have to gradually lower the choke. When it cold I stop and let mine warm a little just above idle.

Hey Parker! and welcome to the forum. Yes It's been damn cold here in Maine. Single digits here in Bangor for the past 2 weeks. It has warmed up today due to freezing rain. Hoping for a couple days of relief. I put my bikes away in November then forget about them til April or so. I have friends that ride year round but they are far more tolerant / brave than I. It amazes me that any internal combustion engine will start and run at these temps. My guess is the fuel/oil mix may be too rich and the cold doesn't help.

Hey man, glad to see another maine man on here **** yeah ! Yeah, today is the warmest it's been so as we speak I have a hair dryer on the top end gunna leave it for a bit and hopefully everything will unfreeze and start up for me. Hopefully this is it lol
A crack in the housing doesn’t mean the cdi is bad, check to see if it still fires. Remove the spark plug, connect it to the cdi, lay the plug on the head and walk the bike with the clutch out. You should hear the engine turning over and see the spark.
Yes ,I do hear the cylinder going up and down when I release the clutch to start it. Sounds like it's running, and then it shuts off real quick even if I try to give it throttle and mess with the clutch. That's basically what the video would show you.
Oh yeah sorry I misread what you said. I do hear the piston cycling when I'm pushing it around with the plug out. And I will get a new spark plug.
Looking at the picture its got a good crack in it, the components are embedded in epoxy like material, it could have a broken a solder joint. Below is a link to a replacement, they are not that expensive.
