My first post, I am 78 and was fascinated by the first Whizer I saw, sometime around 1945, and I just might be building my own (if my family grants permission).
At my age they think they are allowed to prevent me from doing things they consider dangerous.
 
Welcome to the forum. I should warn you that these motorized bikes are so much fun that they can become addictive. Don't tell the family that.
 
Sometimes, building the bike is more fun than riding them. Coming up with a design, searching for the right parts, seeing everything come together. And of coarse you have to do a test ride to make sure everything is working. My wife came out the my workshop the other day and exclaimed, "Is that another bike your building!", and then turned around a left. At least she didn't ask how much money I had spent on it, as it is the most expensive one so far. Just tell your family you need a project to keep you busy. Sure beats sitting around and watching TV.

The above post is the absolute truth!! However, instead of building multiple bikes, I just keep evolving the one I started with ---- I think the only 'original' parts are the frame and pedal crank. That being said, this is still the cheapest hobby I've ever had.....and the most enjoyable.

Welcome aboard! I am soon 76 and building one also. I pedal a cruiser every day for fit and excersize, like you had a Monark twin when i was a kid, just never forget them..........................Curt
 
Welcome Corona. I'm 57 this year. Been building and riding since 2011. I tell people I haven't had such fun on a bike since I was 8 years old. I really do mean it. My wife (I'm a lucky one) likes the bikes. I must insist you read as much as you can here. First priority is a safe bike. @ 20mph a pothole 2" deep will hurt you and your wheel. A fender not re-enforced will cause fatigue (vibration) and break free, act as a ski and will hurt you. Be sure you have both Front and Rear brakes. Consider a helmet and be sure you have a full compliment of reflectors, headlight and flashing tail. Now I circle back to my insistence, read and learn here to check-watch every component assembled. A problem does not exist that hasn't been experienced or discussed here. You have found the best forum with the best and most helpful people. BUILD! RIDE! ENJOY! BE SAFE!
 
Welcome to the forum. I think it is awesome that you are still tinkering and considering a Whizzer. Incidently, the first time my dad saw my motorized bike, he said it reminded him of the Whizzers.
