That forgotten bright thing popped out in the sky in Dallas today too. Looks like we're going to get back to normal for the next week, mid 60s, and sun.

Yesterday was the first sunny day we've had around spacetown since New Years that I can remember. I want to get out and ride today but I am still coughing up a stubborn cold.
I just got home about an hour ago. Even though it was 65 degrees today it never really felt that warm because a North wind kicked up in the afternoon. Still, it was bearable, and I had fun riding home in traffic. It's a lot more fun when it's warmer though.
It's sunny and on the way to 69 degrees today. Since the Cowboys are down the toilet I'm riding today. I'm going to try to get my son to come over, and ride into town with me.
What's even more fun than riding my bike into town, is riding my bike into town with another bike.

The struggle is real biknut. I just met someone who told me they knew a whole bunch of ebikers that lived here in austin! When I prompted them to introduce me so I could see what they were riding and get to know them I was informed that they were all Ex-bikers now... 
We have one more day of great temperature today. It might get up to 70 degrees, and it's still sunny. The weather is going downhill after this for a while, so I'm going to try to take advantage of it. I've been needing to ride into town to take care of a little business for a few weeks now, so this is my chance to combine business with pleasure. This time I'm riding by myself so there shouldn't be any whining about wanting to head home lol. This ride should end up about 35 miles long.
I pedal most of the time when I'm joy riding. The slower I'm going the more effective it is. On this ride I never got above 35 mph, so I was able to keep up pedaling the whole way. Above 35 it gets progressively more difficult for me to keep up. I can actually pedal all the way to 50, but at that cadence I run out of breath pretty fast. 30 mph is my sweet spot. I can add the most assist under 15 mph.
Dallas is basically pretty flat, but there are some challenging climbs. The middle of the map where the 12 is, goes through an area called Bluff View. There's a cliff there that I rode by with about a 100' drop off. When I was a kid, every other kid knew someone that fell off it, and broke every bone in his body LOL. Now it's fenced off. between there and my house in the North is downhill, and from there to Highland Park it's uphill, hence the name, Highland Park. The return trip on the West side of Love Field has less change in elevation.

Honestly I haven't just gone for a ride sense I was 12. Bikes have always been a mode of transportation and exercise (at the same time) for me, probably because I always seem to be the only one with a bike.
I think I just figured out why the idea of a back seat has such appeal to me now! lol.

Riding with one, or a group of friends is always big fun, but honestly in 50 years of riding I've found it to be a solitary endeavor 99% of the time. I guess I'm used to it by now.
I totally havent read all 106 pages in this texas riding blog, and there may be a better place for this, but I was just reading about Electric bicycle laws in texas.... and apparently they cant be over 100LBS?!
what malarkie is this? thats like my batteries, back seat, and motor alone maybe :S
Is this just something Ive overlooked in my brief brush with the texas laws, or is it something relatively new?

(24) "Electric bicycle" means a bicycle that:
(A) is designed to be propelled by an electric motor, exclusively or in combination with the application of human power;
(B) cannot attain a speed of more than 20 miles per hour without the application of human power; and
(C) does not exceed a weight of 100 pounds.
I dont expect to be stopped by the cops, and if I do Honestly I really only expect them to be curious. I especially would be caught off gaurd by a cop with a scale XD

It's because that's from the federal regulations, but it's not ever going to be a factor. Who's going to carry a scale around to weigh your bike? Who's even going to care?
