OCC pedal chopper

I think I'm gonna go ahead and purchase the Pedal Chopper engine kit for OCC stingrays. It seems like a real solid kit and the upgrades for the exhaust and other components will hopefully lighten my load. Has anyone used it, and if so have any suggestions or review?
 
Do it and Don't Hesitate. The OCC Schwin Stingray is an eye catching bike alone but slap an engine on one and you're wake up the neighbors and everyone wants an even closer look at yours.
I just completed my engine build and just in time for summer. There are plenty of places to buy the kit from online as you know. Pedalchoppers.com was real helpful and even talked me through some things over the phone. I'm new to small engines so I couldn't put it together without that help. After the build I uploaded a video and pics of the test run to YouTube. Check it out and let me know what you think and ask any questions you may have.

Video is impressive.

I concur with you, Jim @Pedalchopper.com is a great guy and really goes above and beyond for those in the Motorized Bicycling Community.
Not only with his pedalchopper parts & accessories but his trouble shooting build assistance for those who might be new to motorized bicycles.

Crazy Horse, thanks for the well welcome to the forum. That build was fun and I'm real excited to finally have it for the spring/summer here in TX. Thanks for the compliments on it. Good to know that you've worked with Jim also. I'll recommend anyone instested in building one to talk with him.

I've been to Wilmington, N.C. many times they're aren't really any hills / inclines to climb, except for the intercoastal waterway bridge over to beach, so keeping it a single speed will be fine.

Garrett, can you post a picture of your OCC Pedal Chopper, is it Chrome, Red, Black, Blue, or Green OCC Pedal Chopper that you are motorizing?

so I've hooked everything up and I'm 99% sure I did it right based off of my research but I tried to fire her up yesterday and had no luck. After many dis-assemblies and re-assemblies, it looks like the carb isn't even feeding the air/fuel mixture into the compression chamber. I have pretty much zero experience with engines so if there's any tips or tricks on this please let me know or tell me if I'm wrong. I have a crapload of pictures but haven't had a chance to upload them. I will ASAP.
 
Bummer...but you're in the right place to find out the possibilities if issues. I'm new to motor bicycling too and have found alot about mine from the experienced motorheads in this forum. Repost with what type of motor you have and that'll be a start for getting help from the group.
My only solution would be to ask if you flipped the fuel line switch to on. Just my hunch.

haha yeah the fuel lines on and over the past hour I've been looking through the forums for people with my model and may have found the problem. Don't have much time before my game to work on the bike so hopefully I'll be a little expeditious about this repair.
 
Garrett, glad to hear that you've been making progress on your build, have you a complete build list of parts that you've used for your build, maybe share it here, I'm sure it would help someone who is considering a build inspired by or similar to yours!

I'm going to assume that you can see fuel in the fuel line but nothing is flowing into carb, could it be that the throttle cable is broken and or the needle spring is stuck inside carb, which possibly could prevent fuel from flowing.

My guess is the fuel filter and or line is clogged.

Need more info.

Sorry to change your thread a bit but was wondering what kind of brakes you use on the occ bike just pick one up and the screech like **** got new pads and clean them sanded it down them to and still noise is there anyway you could help me out
 
So I got everything running, it would idle pretty well, but would bog out in the higher rpms when the clutch is disengaged. Not sure if I haven't tuned her in correctly or if it is just a matter of breaking the engine in. Just my luck two days ago the bearings in the rear wheel blew to ****. most fell out and are who knows where but some are inside the hole. not too sure what I'm going to do because they're in there and I'm not sure if they're coming out. Any suggestions and don't worry C.H. I'm gonna give you some pics.
 
I've always pushed my throttle cable all the way up before disengaging the clutch. Just like I would do before starting it...then pull it all the way down for riding. I'm still in my break in stage too...she's still sucking down the first tank.
 
haha same I'm just chugging along and slowly getting my rpms back up, but with my blown bearings, it may be a while before I'm back on the saddle
 
Bummer...I'm at work knowing my package was just delivered...tracking that issh...and wanna go install it now.
You've hit a big speed bump with blown bearings but if you love this like I do you'll get your 'girl' what she needs to have you back in the saddle.
 
Yeah the bearings just about chewed my axel in half, so I'm gonna give schwinn a call tomorrow and if I can't order a new one through them or find one I'm gonna have to get a new wheel.
