i knew there'd be some grey area to my class suggestions...
the problem with it, is that we have to take everyone's word for what their bike's will do. and there will always be conflicts and questions.
the problem with letting your morini in with the faster 2 strokes, is i'm willing to bet your bike will out-accelerate a chinese smoker by a mile. someone could easily gear a bike to stay within the speed limit parameters, but outrun everything off the line and out of the corners.
on the other hand, though, it'd be fun to match up my bike against yours. and i know some other's who think the same way.
it's kinda like bracket racing, but without the handicaps and the dial-in.
another problem, is what about the guys on the lower end of the speed limits? say your bike has just enough mods to get it out of the beginner/cruiser class, but not enough to hang with a full built racer?
also, skill level plays into it. what about an inexperienced rider on a fast bike?
i need some more feedback from other racers to determine if it's a good idea to set up classes this way.
bottom line, is i want these events to stay fun for everyone, yet still challenging enough for the "serious" racer. i don't want the new guys to get scared off, or the hardcore guys to get bored.
ya can't please all of the people all the time...

this is the only aerial view of the track i can find.
i'm hoping to get out there to take some runs soon and i'll give my honest opinion as far as gearing goes. when i met with the owner of the track, i had a chance to walk around, and it looks pretty flat. no major elevation changes, no uphill straight-a-ways. right now, i'm not too sure what's gonna work best.
