Thanks Lurker. I really appreciate it. It would be REALLY cool if year after year more and more of US Retro vintage motorbike builders entered the Easyrider show because it is the biggest custom motorcycle show in North America. If enough of us did they could make a new class for Us. I was competing against frakin motorcycles! Actually I was also competing against one nice blue Big Boy owned by Timm also. To enter the Easyrider show for a basic non electrical 5x10 space is free. Just $25 for two days of the show with a wrist band for full access. The next show is in North Carolina and the last one is in Columbus Ohio. The Columbus Ohio show is the big one. They invite the very best bikes from the other shows to the Columbus show to compete against each other. If you go to Easyrider Events you can find the info. Maybe one is near you? Nobody made an offer but there is a reason. In the Peoples Choice class you are not permitted to stand near your bike or you may be disqualified due to unfair advantage. So I was not able to meet many folks, but I did stand away and did speak to some that were at the bike for a long while, not soliciting votes. It turns out they lived near me and saw the bike being ridden a lot around so it was cool to meet them. I think a story on us retro bike builders would be cool, but I don't know any particular motorcycle magazine that it would fit. Cycle World? I would buy an issue. If I am likely to be in an issue of Easyrider it would be a future issue that shows all the show winners. They had us take a group shot holding our trophies together. I'm willing to bet that they will have those group shots in a magazine or have one coming up that has our names listed. My name is John Erickson FYI. It was a really cool experience and I recommend you try it. The motorcycle helmet vendor that was right behind my bike display was so happy for me after he found out I won a trophy he gave me a really nice Indian motorcycle pin. Rough exterior, but most of the folks there are really very nice people.Way to go CF! You have to let all of us know if you make it in to the magazine and when it comes out so we can pick up a copy.
It would be really cool if a magazine did a story about people like us on the the forum who have a passion for these historic machines but don't have money for the real thing. I think some of the people on the forum have the same spirt and ingenuity that the original manufactures had at the turn of the century. I know I would love to design and build these things for a living.
Also just out of curiosity did anyone make you any offers for your bike?
John, it would be nice to bring my bike over and meeting you guys... we don't have that much shows over here :-(My name is John Erickson FYI. Not many shows? That's no good. (Certainly not what I expected either.) Surely there must be a few people with old Zundapps, or NSUs, or Horexs, or maybe a vintage BMW, or any of the other excellent German bikes that have been made over the years. I would have thought that their owners would want to show them around once in a while. Hmmm...maybe Z-man here on this forum knows of some kind of rally or show going on.John, it would be nice to bring my bike over and meeting you guys... we don't have that much shows over here :-(
Sounds like you really had fun
There is one big show in Bremen in two weeks which is not far away for me- that is the season starter- then we have about 3-4 other shows mainly in south-germany which means a 400mls trip. Not gonna do that. That's about it, germany is a small country, but there are certainly some local shows I don't know about. Not many shows? That's no good. (Certainly not what I expected either.) I said they were "stretchy" Lol.cool, some nices babes- sorry, I mean bikes in there. And he filmed your bike as well.
That stretched Jap bike was a YZ460 two stroke thumper dirt bike believe it or not. It could probably be ridden but you probably would want off after a few seconds.Your bike looks frikkin awesome in the video and a lot nicer then some of the other bikes shown, id be a lot more proud to own and ride your bike then some of the others........ but i did like the stretched out Jap bike at 2:17
