Re: MB in the News

Though you might need a spark arrester, a motorized bicycle is the closest thing to a vehicle you're going to get that you can literally hunt off of. I was talking to a postal carrier who wanted a MxB that he could hunt off of here in Idaho. This article has got some good info if you're in the boonies of Cali.

Is it legal to shoot or hunt from a mountain bike? - Outdoors, action and adventure

Re: MB in the News

I think drivers do it deliberately most of the time (the needless overtake, slam the brakes, then turn right). It's mean to insult for "going to slow" in the cager's mind.

In B.C., a motor does not a vehicle make

This was good to read. A lil "share the road" piece.

Don't care what another human being is on, pass em on the left then make a right, me thinks you are at fault. Dunno how many times just that has happened to me or read here.
Thanks for catching that one, Dan. Some useful info there.. Not that North Vancouver's definitions are necessarily going to be the same as Vancouver (or any of the other half-dozen cities in the GVA), but it's good to know that if I go across that bridge I'll need my driver's license.

Re: MB in the News

I have been trying not to post the seemingly never ending stories about bike and MB crashes and worse but this got to me. The guy, drunk, hit a MBer/bicyclist, mortally wounding him. Then washed his SUV and went home.

http://www.tampabay.com/news/public...lice-arrest-man-in-deadly-hit-and-run/1217458

Forget the bike or MB thing. This guy killed some one then washed his truck to try and hide it. There really are few folks I would wish prison on. He dang sure is one of them though.

"Police arrested the driver, who was not immediately identified, at his home just after midnight and charged him with driving under the influence and with a suspended license."

Re: MB in the News

Friggin people... and they haven't charged him with the hit'n run? You'd think he'd at least be charged with that, and vehicular homicide... or something harsher than DUI... gah!

Re: MB in the News

,Killer, no kidding the other night I was finishing my run delivering meds and stopped at Mcwhopper land. Sitting in the parking lot an SUV was backing up. Stopped then sped up to slam me. They pulled up and I thought to get out an' exchange information. I get out and they speed away. I am standing there writing their licence plate number down. I figure it is just dumb kids with parent's truck. But as I had not yet made a second payment on this car, I call the cops. Almost no damage but new car. (new to me)((2005 focus))

The cop, who was really cool went and found the SUV in the next town outside where he had no jurisdiction. The wife (adult) said she had been driving and her husband was not.

Not kids as I had thought but a drunk. A wife protected him. What if he had backed over some one, was my question to the cop.

Drive me crazy! Grown ups should be responsible.

lol, sorry for the rant. If I ever grow up, I would be taller....

Re: MB in the News

The commentary discusses the motorized bicycle rider having multiple DUI and a rap sheet, and maybe not having lights. So possible they were both drunk?

Hit and run (or even failure to stop and render aid, as a more formal way to put it) is a big time felony, right? I'd say if he washed his truck and tried to hide that he hit someone, that is suspicion of premeditated murder (could have intended to "hit one of them bicyclists" like so many threats made on public media about bike and car relations.
So many people seem to think bicyclists are non-persons or even deliberately hate us (call us "spandex fags" and so on).

Maybe they can increase the charges after a hearing or something.
