the cdi build would not tune so I ordered Jaguar High Performance CDI Kit a jaguar cdi if that comes in time I'll know what rear gear to get then if time allows maybe nitro maybe

if you're referring to the cdi build that was home made from scratch not a store buy- and yes 600hours latter I gave in and ordered one I'm not proud of giving in but I'm beat.
if your asking why I haven't business with you there is no reason just haven't needed to as of let I'm sure you're a fine shop and I'll certainly keep you in mind.

the cdi was to much I got adv & retr but could not get it to match well with rpm not enough advance to early retard to slow advance drop back if my hair wasn't already gray it would of given it to me. With the grange event coming closer I had to just get it in hopes there would be time for an ether mod wish me luck I'll see you in the pits

Tire choice for me is a safety thing. My gearing works out better and my brakes are happier with the 26" wheel's lower operating speeds.

However... the multiple 26" bicycle tires I've tried out (including big-apples and hookworms) would fail under my weight (i'm a big heavy guy) and cornering speeds (I turn hard at high speeds). They would tear at the lamination points, and tear the blocks of tread, and end up fatiguing until you get random flats from the sidewall wrinkling up and pinch-flatting the tubes.

Not good for the sport or anyone to have the fast bikes and hard riders getting flats randomly and getting hurt or having races messed up needlessly.


Scooter tires are dirt cheap (cheaper than my hookworms or big-apples), they mount straight onto normal el-cheapo BMX wheels, and most importantly, even at very high speeds and very high cornering loads, they take the abuse like a champ. Mine show no signs of tearing or ripping or failing anywhere, and I've really put them through the ringer.

If your bike is slow, or you're a very light rider, by all means stick with the more costly bicycle tires, they are much lighter and let you run the wheel size you want.

If you're bringing a fast bike and/or a heavy rider, for the sake of saving yourself some skin or broken bones, run the scooter tires. They safely handle the load that a bicycle tire was never designed to endure.

What motor are you using on your race bike?
Also what are the physical dimensions of your motor?

I know you guys are tired of the tire debate, I just wanna give my 2 cents on this since I was the guy running them at Willow. I really didn't see any advantage in them over the cornering abilities of the other guys. My bike is low giving me a better CG for cornering, that is what I am contributing any corning advantage to. I was out gunned out of the straights, so it leveled off to be a very fair (and FUN) race until I inhaled a pebble into the motor. Where I think the advantage is, is the confidence of grip they give. I can't be positive, as I have never run bicycle tires at these speeds in a 20" rim, but the moped tire seems to lose traction and regain traction in a controlled manner instead of "snapping" back into traction and high-siding your ass. So from a safety perpective, I think they should be allowed and even recommended. Maybe at this point in the game you can specify tire WIDTH as an indicator of acceptable tires to be allowed. I think tire width will be a much easier rule to abide by and will certainly rule out any tires that appear to be more for motorcycles than bicycles. I will bring some 20" Hookworms to the Grange race and we will do some experimental laps comparing the two tires. Hey I just thought of a new fun race:

One handed race where the rider has to hold a glass of beer while navigating the course, I know some of us will have the clear advantage of "experience" in this event!

On a kart track, we've never seen over 50mph yet. You picked one with a longer straight, so hopefully we can get above that. It's not the speeds down the straights that hurt a tire though, it's how well you can carry speed into corners that hurts the tire.

This is the optimistic Chinese spec sheet for my motor. In testing, it start to get smoking hot after about 15seconds of 10hp output (which is more than it's rated to handle.) We are hoping with some good cooling fans and things that we can keep it from smoking on a big open power hungry track like this. So far we have to stop after a few minutes and wait for it to cool down to keep racing... Hopefully big fans will fix that, because if I dial back the power anymore it's not going to be competitive with these crazy 200cc CVT gas bikes, which the only way I will be able to compete with is through better riding skills, cause my weight is a big disadvantage and there is no way I can get a power advantage that lasts for more than a lap or two before the motor smokes. But that's racing, and the challenge is what makes it fun.

Lol, yeah. At 300amps through its little 8awg phase wires, it starts smoking in about 10sec. You can't even get a single complete dyno pull before it overheats, and then you gotta wait about 2mins with the fans on it to get it back to a safe temp to continue testing.

For the drag race, we will try to see what it can do and hopefully not smoke it, but for road racing, if we want to run the distance without overheating, its going to be 8-9hp Max u.less we can get some killer fans or something on this thing.

new Grubee GT4 case with new bearings, balanced crank, and carved out transfer ports for the 'ol carb in front, exhaust out back style i like so much.

GT5A Jug with the bigger intake ports, and modded, non-chinese piston and rings (and...)

upgraded hardware everywhere.

spherical bearing clutch arm, real friction material clutch pucks (and...)

decked GT4 Straight Plug head with a B7HS NGK. indexed.

anodized covers to match the bike. which you don't get to see yet.

also got some ideas for the magneto, timing, cdi, etc electrical, but i'm gonna wait till it's running so i don't get in over my head with too many modifications to troubleshoot.

building a manifold for my 16mm Mikuni and mapping out an expansion chamber with adjustable header length.

most of the basic mods were on the bike i was riding when me an Neil GPS'd it 54mph, and it blew up on PCH at 62mph (gps'd with my phone.)

but now, it's even better, it's all brand new, and i'm not working on an unemployment check budget.

anyone want some action on the 1/8 mile race? i'm confident this will be the fastest 2 stroke china doll at the race, if not on the entire planet.

so I guess I'll have to ark the piston top at the ports if I don't wont bairdco sucking me up his carb and spitting me out the exhaust -at Willow Springs the first 3 bikes were way out in front I was 4th in the heat group 1 and broke the 10 tooth key before the main- hope to finish better at Grange
I think bairdco was in group 2 so I don't know how fast I would need to be to keep up
I hope that his motor has weak lower rpm tork or I'm had
