Thats interesting I didnt know they had already addressed the issue. I guess what will happen is that they will not retro fit the kits dealers still have that do not have the retainers they will sell the existing stock as it is... Problem is that most of the dealers still have 2010 kits and are not selling the newest stock yet.
I am just hoping they get the CNSv2 carb running better than the early versions did because they are discontinuing the CNSv1 series that ran so well.
You are correct, they are not selling to 2011's yet , even the only WD , gasbike.net is still selling the 2010 , my guess is that's why they are running the "skyhawksave30" coupon again ( its in the google ads all over this site) to get rid of the 2010's . I called about ordering 10 kits ( b/c I have a ton of locals asking me to build one for them, but I cannot build a bike for them with so many probs , these are people who just want to get on and ride) ... I asked them if I could buy 2011 's only , seeing that it is the 5th month of 2011 , but the answer I got was just vague " we cannot assure you what year the kit was made , just that it is new latest skyhawk IN STOCK"

wow , all I can say , money rules , integrity and service does not .

Well i just pulled all the decals off my bike and it looks sick now.

Totally white and black
looking just like a police bicycle

when i get my gas tank it will be black also.
matching the theme

All i need then is a panniers that are black.
And some decals to make the bike look like police :)

Edit:
got my UPS tracking info from piston bikes

the engine is coming to my house this week.
going to put it all on and take pics as soon as i can

That looks much better! ;) Whoever designs decals for these bicycles really has no artistic skills at all. A simple paint job is 10x prettier in my opinion.

At least twice the standard depth. The rims on the Genesis 29er Cruiser and the orange version of the same bike all have those rims (except they're black).

I would also like to know where you are getting a GT5 for that price.

As for the chain width... Yes the kits come standard with the 410 narrow chain but if you are planning to use a sprocket adapter then you will have to allow for the 410 HD chain as both mfrs of adapters cut the sprockets for this chain only.

Overall I like the 415 better if you can make it work because it is less likely to stretch and get side slap that can rub tire to shreads and cut any frame to pieces fast especially if it aluminum.

You can gr 1/8 and 1/4" hub axle spacers to stretch out the frame to allow a little extra room at most bike shops for a couple dollars. I personally had to use an 1/8" spacer and go down from 2.250" tires to 1.950" to get the clearance right on both sides of the chain for my Cranbrook. Even then with the rag joint it was a close fit against the frame and only made better when I went to sprocket adapter to be able to align the chain properly on the drive sprocket .
Hi Mark ... I'm the other Mark... I was reading the thread like.... i didnt post my name???? Anyway, as for the price... I'm a good flea-bayer. I got lucky. I offered the 120 shipped for a new kit and it was accepted. I thought i was dealing with some kinda store and was expecting a counter offer in the middle. I noticed only AFTER placing the offer that there was no quantity...It was just that one.

Skyhawk GT-5 GT5 66cc Bicycle Motor Kit NEW | eBay

I got one of those $10 pipes as well.... Yuuuup (proof) , unfortunately those are sold out too.

What are these spacers?? 1/8 may do the trick. The rub on mine is minimal... Smaller tire (2.0) should fix the problem... Its not even hitting the tire itself... the chain has "polished" a bit of my chain stay and leveled off the knobs on the left side of the tire a bit.... pics following and bear in mind this is after 2.5k miles. Personally... IM AFRAID to motorize a smaller bike. This thing handles like a dream... i treat it like a street bike.

As for the chain itself... you're saying the narrower chain give a higher potential for for lateral play.... I see how that can be an issue. Thanks for the heads up.

Flyby .... Thanks for the bike approval. From you it means something to me. As far as i can tell the frame is still FLAWLESS after 2500 miles of abuse.

ya no prob i'm a strong believer in aluminum. if its strong enough to venture out into space its strong enough for a bike frame. the head of that frame looks bullet proof.

Yeah i'm going to get some bar stoppers built so the front tire cant toe in to much while i'm riding

you dont need to turn the bars on a motorized vehicle anyways
(not that much!!!!!)

simply leaning will do the trick and is much safer then a possible jack knife of the front wheel

Ok guys just got the kit

some problems right off the bat

The engine does not fit in the frame without turning the head around so the spark plug is facing the handlebars.

The carburetor does not clear the seat tube (i already knew this)

The back shifter (right side) does not clear the throttle assembly
Not sure what I'm doing in this situation. probably will just put the bike in gear and leave it in a suitable peddling gear

Going to buy some hose and clamps to make an adapter tonight.

Have to buy some zip ties and other crap while I'm out.

Gas tank mounted up without problems and so did the throttle

Thats as far as I've gotten tonight. Going to try and take pictures when i get home

For your shifter thing there's a couple things.

Disregard this if it's twist/grip shift

You can replace the shifter with one with a longer lever, or put your brakes on the left of the shifter.

What I would do is remove the front derailleur and left shifter. It really serves no purpose on a non shift kit bicycle, and if it's necessary you can manually pop your chain over when stopped. Now, put your shifter on the left side. Ouila!

Good ideas

I just took some pictures but now the back tire is removed
I'm bolting the rag joint on!
