Because it's just barely adequate? Two points of contact both low in relation to both the engine's center of gravity and output torque... I'm actually quite surprised it works as well as it does lol

I'll agree with you on that if the engine is installed as per instructions. Although I have a work around for the torque issue.....

I have never mounted a engine by the original front mount as per instructions.

I have a photo much like that in my album. The thing was that nothing was wrong with the mounts themselves. The engine wouldn't fit on the frame perfectly and I used a piece of angle iron and bolted it to the original stud holes. Is this the one you are referring to??

It looks like you used a urethane handlebar damper from a Harley for that.

It's a urethane bushing but made for automotive suspension. Very very firm. Not like rubber or nylon. Absolutely no flex.
