A plug swap isn't likely to produce a noticeable difference in power. If it does the one you replaced wasn't working properly.

A good plug w/ a good plug cap in a good running motor will last a lot longer than a crappy plug in a good running motor.

Many a manufacturer claim otherwise but I've never seen proof.

However, on a 2 stroke heat range can make a significant difference in performance and can be the difference between seizing or not!

I suppose heat range could affect a 4 stroke adversly too! If your motor were running too hot or too cold It's posssible an adjustment might slightly benefit the motor.

I'm gonna have to agree w/ Elmo in that you'd need to see what works for your particular motor w/ your climate and elevation etc.

All in my experience, of course!

Cheers!

LOL, ayuh, great start.

Spent the day working on a trailer. (my first utter and complete failure. I wish I did a vid was hysterical how really bad this thing does) Was in and out of the local Ace from opening to closing. Kid who works there asked how my bike was running. I said Great! He looked at me puzzeled and said; "But your always in here buying nutz and bolts. Are they falling off?"

Really did get a wee bit more umph but also drilled a hole in the muffler. Painted my chicken/hardware wire air filter cover white. Looks, well, it really stands out now. Couldn't find my rattle can of chrome.

Tomorrow, the blades!

.wee.

Are you running bushed sprocket and pully on the rear? I see the zerk and lube holes on what apears to be a stationary shaft. Looks like hard anodize for the drive.

Cheers! Evan

Awesome Eldo! Really like it! Always wanted to try wood for mounting. Many advantages. Absorobes vibes, easier to work with, initial cost, (although I have never heard of the type you used so am sure it was big ol bucks. Very, very cool.

Dig where yer going with the muffler. If using solder, what kind? measured temp at manifold a few times and got one # of 500 degrees.

Think I am gonna try same thing but in iron. But man does polished copper look suweeet.....

Hey Dan: This winter there were some pictures posted about this subject on TS's new inframe 4 stroke kit in developement thread pages 20 and 21 I think. and that vid won't do much good in relation to the 79cc HF.

1. The plastic button doesn't just come off. Hard to explain why but when you try you'll see it doesn't just slide off. The two metal parts attached to the plastic gear make it hard to get to the center of the plastic gear with a sharp tool to work step two, which is putting the smack down on the plastic gear.

2. there is no clip holding the plastic gear on the shaft. The gear seems to be molded on or press on the shaft with a ridge holding it on.

Both the above differences make it much more difficult to remove the extra parts.

To avoid takeing so much of the motor apart like Manic Mechanic did, I just twisted the two metal parts holding the button on in opposite directions to get the button off ,then took a long narrow sacraficial screw driver and sharpened it on a grinder then used it as a chisel on the plastic gear's center where it spins on the shaft till I was able to pull it up off the shaft.

Or, you could do like MM and take the pulley, flywheel and whatever else you need to remove to get to the point on the engine were you can access the back of the shaft and punch it out, then you have another hole to plug.

My first attempt was a bear but the second one I did came out pretty easy.

I didn't cut mine till I got it out, then I chopped it just below the little clip that holds it in and fed it back up throught the inside with the clip on then topped it on the outside with a rubber ring and washer then nuts ect to esentialy make it look like it did before useing the same arm in the throttle linkage. I've test ran it awhile with no leaks yet but of course I haven't ridden it hard yet to realy see.

There ought to be a way to hook up an alternater. Maybe one like the Kubota perm magnet one, it is pretty small.
Has anyone tried a soewing machine motor or a 12v Briggs starter motor.Or any small engine starter motor for a ALT. Just like the old starter generator motors if you spin them they should put out juice. Maybe even some of the small computer 12 volt fan motors?

Cool Glack. Gonna try it. Thanks!

That could work Curtis. Any one gonna try it? Would really be the answer.

Went to favorite MC shop to ask about gen/starters. These guys are great and enjoy off the wall projects. Marks Motorsports - Enfield, Hartford, Connecticut, Can-Am, Aprilia, Motorcycle, ATV, Scooter, Dealer, Used, Parts, Apparel The owner Mark called a buddy of his who owns a lawnmower place. He (dunno his name) said he was aware of them but was not sure if they were still made. Next time we speak, I am gonna ask about using a stator to generate 12V. Strap it on front wheel. I forget but some one talked me out of that idea. Be pretty cool if it can be done and would be universal to any MB or maybe any bike.

Shower, shave then off to further torture my HF. Already cherry picking parts off the replacement engine

A regular starter/generator would be to big they were the same size as a early car generator. But an y 12 volt motor that is made to run steady should put out curant. The regular Kabota type put out 15 amps.
One would just have to spin one and try. I nhave a good colection but not ready to do so haven't tried them yet.

Hey guys Dan wood I used left over from job was expensive but you can use some red or white oak just the same. I thought about heat from manifold but didnt think it would be hot enough gonna try if worse come to worse will usw small sheet metal screws know that will work. I also took out governor wasnt easy my cap was a sob to get out finally got it though worth the time I hope. Gonna really get that sucker on the road this week.
