Seems very sensitive to gap. Just a thunk Larry. Also the slide adjustment wreaks havoc. (screw adjustment behind the idle) Once I got that semi right, starts with one pull and idled great.

dunno Eldo. My first thunk is venting but am sure other folks will have better advice. When I played with the slide screw, did the same thing. Sputtered at starting off WOT but fuel filter was full.

Side note, really took some miles to break in. I did not think a 4 smoke would take that long. But did get stronger an' better with some beat on her.

LOL Larry. True. (Spent more. Got less and now can't find it)

I am finding it funny that having spare parts are making me a lil more adventurous and more willing to try stuff I would normally think about before committing to.

Just swapped it out. Just unscrews. Easy peasie. Bummer part was my spare ignition wire was not as good as the HF's! I hate an' I mean hate a local MC shop. They sold me this wire a few yrs back and is about as good as china girl IG wire. Sold me a 15$ can of brake cleaner and told me you can't run 2 6V batts in series and get 12. Ignition wires only come in black and you can not buy locking clutch handles even though the front of their store is lined with, ya gussed it. ATVs with locking clutches.

Goin' fer a ride. Wire sucks so am not hoping fer a lot but thinking tighter turns and shorter travel might have some effect. Will buy better wire asap

Back from test ride. No bogging but no better any thing else, Need better wire. I did get a bug in the eye though. Neither of us was happy. Lets bow our heads for George. Carol dug him out and showed Shelly DeDawg. Who promptly licked and eat George. (presumably to death)

enjoying the heck out of the shared trials Larry, TY! I really think the bogging was just loose wire. I did get one wot after but was just fun-running and will report.

Post Script; George is not only dead, he been pooped. Story at 11

i got fed up and stuck the tube for the carb cleaner into the carb when it was running.
that did it its back to normal i just got back from a ride. i have no idea what the **** it was
:) build up the the intake valve? i have two carburetors with me and they did the same thing. the hissing form the valve is gone when cranked slowly by hand. i think the valve is good. i just may need a new valve spring. but i did rule out the carburetor.

only took 2 week to figure it out lol.

finally added my oil hose. time to put the custom airbox back ondance1

Hey guys,

The carb is definately barely adequite! When you dump it from full throttle it takes a little time to recover. It's not too bad when you come to a stop but if you dump it for a corner the whack it open again it doesn't seem to like it and takes a little time to recover. Being a butterfly carb (no needle to aid the transition 'tween the idle jet and main jet) it's not designed for what we're doin' so it actually works ok considering.

I keep meaning to play around w/ some different carbs but just haven't had the time. Someone was playing around w/ a Mikuni and working w/ Sudco on it, that sounds promising. Sudco is a great company that's been around for a long time.

Cheers!
