Re: Members Build Off

Hey V.B. I worked on my exhaust today. Built it out of some old cut up handle bars. It tucked up there pretty sweet, with an 1/8" to spare.

John
That's lookin' perty sweet!!

I got a few things done today. I took apart the front wheel & painted it to match the rear one.
I started to make the front disc mount & I went out & found the correct size steel tube to rebuild the lower half of the frame.

I'll post some pics tomorrow.

What is the height of those bars? Those may be the tallest I have ever seen.

Here's the front wheel all trued up and ready to go!

Here I put the wheel on & rolled it out for some quick pics... I sure wish the other builders in this build off would post some real pics!!

Re: Members Build Off

O.K. After seeing that wheel I am going to have to give it a try. That is the one thing I haven't done is lace up a wheel. V.B. What size is that back tire? That's looks wider than the one I am using.
This is all I got done yesterday, (the chain guard) took me forever just stripping the paint off.

Re: Members Build Off

Here's todays progress...
I moved the BB & welded in the new lower tube, now I have to relocate the seat tube (because the engine is going right there.) Then I'll figure out where I want the engine mounts.

Also... to answer John's question, the rear tire is a 24X3.0

Re: Members Build Off

I finished up my gas tank today and got it mounted. It is a small Aluminum tank I made out of some 2 1/2" tubing. I covered it to look like an under the seat bag, but the cap and sight glass give it away. I will probably mount a small water bottle underneath since the tank only holds about 16 oz.

Re: Members Build Off

I worked on the electrical system today. I am going to use a 12 volt SLA Rechargeable battery, with headlight, tail light, horn, and rear turning signals.
I machined the headlight and battery tray today. The headlight has a 12 volt, 12 l.e.d. bulb, very bright!

Re: Members Build Off

V. B. are we the only ones actually building bikes for this thing? I figured everyone would be putting on their progress but I guess it's just us. Anyway I have another picture. I wired everything up to a small 12 volt panel. Head light, Tail lights, Horn and Kill button. The 12 volt Battery is just below the panel. I was splitting frog hairs to get everything to fit!

Re: Members Build Off

Sorry Vanice
Your right, this is what gave me my start with my build utf-8BSU1HMDA2NDAuanBn.jpg picture by 247jude - Photobucket a soft tail would be a nice idea.

This is a picture of a drawing of what I would like the bike to look like.

I know not much of a drawing.

Re: Members Build Off

I went out today & bought some new tools so I could fabricate my new aluminum front disc brake mount.
I came up with a new & better design than my old ones.
I'll post a pic tomorrow after I get it mounted to the bike.

Nothing major to report today... I sealed up all the holes in the frame with JB weld so I can seal the top tube with gas tank liner. I also started prepping the rear wheel & drive sprocket to be mounted. (the sprocket needs to be offset to clear the wide rear tire.)

the motor is a gt5 with pk slant head billet intake and gen 4 pk muffler

here is a shot of the jack

and a side shot more to follow.

this is how I mount the sprocket

I would like to thank troyboy for all my parts and supplies and motor kits
