I have started a new build and these are the first pictures. I have been inspired by the builds on this site and wanted to add one of my very own, so off we go again. The pictures show mock up and design on the table. I did not want to feel cramped so I stretched the frame some, measured it on the drawing and decided it was too long 65” The finished wheelbase will be around 56”

The power plant will be 6.5 hp four stroke, as you can see in the pictures she looks little all stripped down. Not sure what I will add as far as performance parts but of you know me it will not stay stock.

Update 8/1/2011

Got a chance to work on the bike a little this past Sunday; decided to make a few changes to the design. I have a member on my design team that has some fresh ideas that some time fly and other times are way off (15 Year Old Son) but hay it’s only a frame. Ha Ha

The big change was the down tube from 1 inch to 1 1/2. I just felt with the weight of this motor it was a good idea. I have all the tubes cut and need to trim, notch and fit before welding. I need to order a new head tube and fabricate the rear drop outs.

The second time around building a frame seems to be easier and less confusing, this new design does not require using a tube roller so one less thing to slow me down.

heck yeah, another 6.5 build. I just bought an old elgin off ebay. I really like the shape of the straightbar frame. I think I will just use it as a working template and will use new steel to make a stretch frame. This way I have a model to work from and get the geometry and measurements right.

Looking forward to more pics as this build comes together...awesome.

Hey Slowbalt I checked out that motor and it sure is nice. Belt drive overhead cam. That would make a nice add in for this bike, I need to do a price check on it. The bummer is I don't think too many hot rod parts are available yet.

Update 101:
I have been really lazy on this build; need some dancing girls over to get me going. That might be the wrong thing but hay…I can wish…

I was able to make the rear drop-outs, fab up and weld some of the parts together. I notched the front down tube and tacked it together. I also tacked the bottom bracket in. I have this sweet fork to use on this build and will be using worksman wheels again; ya know the really nice 11g spoked ones in flat black.

The motor choice has changed: the new power plant is a Honda 5Hp OHV that sits upright. Got the bomb azz deal and really like the way it looks and most of all the fit.

Just wondering what those bungs are for in the bag? They look massive....

And i think the dancing girls would actually slow down a build, but whatever works for you ....lol

Hey Harry…those bungs aren’t massive, that is the bung you want for a gas tank. You are able to actually put the gas pump nozzle in it and see how much gas you have. I have in the past used garden hose brass fitting and have no issue with them, just trying to change it up a little.

Check out my thumper on the other post and you can see that bung on the aluminum tank.

Curt: this is the link to the forks, FELT ABRAHAM LINKAGE CRUISER FORK - Felt Bicycles The only problem is...it only comes in 1 1/8 head tube. Venice Motor Bikes and Sportscarpat sell modified forks that fit 1 in head tubes.

Oh OK when i saw the bung on the label i thought they were bungs (a threaded picece of steel sealed at one end for fastening the fuel tank) when they are actually fuel fillers, i was a little confused. So the three large round things in the packets are fuel filler/caps? You have three of them, so are 2 of them surplus? Or are you using multiple fillers as were on many BTR's?

Im still a little confused. In the top part of the packet there are three smaller looking bungs? Is that what they are? And if so why are there only 3 of them.... sorry for all the questions lol

Hey Harry I always purchase surplus, I have plans to make a few tanks and one is for a local guy. The smaller ones are 1/8 npt for the petcock. I am making the ones for the tank mounts out of alum stock and they will be 1/4 20.

On another note: this bike is long, around 58 in. Axel to Axel. What do ya think? It's a little too late to make it shorter, I could take it down to 56. I need to check and see what Sportscarpat is running on his extended racer. For sure the tank will hold alot... May be able to compete in the canon ball run... Lol

Thanks CCC, i think my brain has caught up to the conversation...... ok where were we..... oh yeah, nice bike man!!!!!

The first tank i made was outta alloy and i searched for bungs everywhere here in OZ and i couldnt find em, so i did what you are saying and just cut some rod and tapped a thread in it.
