What tools will I need

zptWell, I might be buying a 50cc 2 stroke kit real soon, I really want to know all the tools I need, I already have the perfect bike ready, but what are all the tools I need?


Power Drill......Check
Blue Loctite......Check....
anything else?
 
A drill??? I have never used a drill except for the chain tensioner mod I did once.....but could have lived with out it, like the other bunch I built.

A 10mm wrench or two, some locking pliers, a plug wrench (usually comes with the kit) and a set of screw drivers.

A chain breaker is a nice addition, but you have to get a decent one, not the wart mart kind.
 
Timing light wheel balancer lift and a muffler bearing tool.

For engine mounting and for bike:
NOTE: you can susbstitute a couple of adjustable wrenches in place of the others
10mm wrench and 10mm socket or 2 10mm wrenches = all nuts + brakes
14mm wrench and 14mm socket or 2 14mm wrenches = tensioner bolts + nuts and bike seat
15mm wrench = bike wheel nuts and for removing peddals
flathead screw driver = all cover screws and muffler cap
philips screw driver = carb clamp + carb drain
Sharp heavy duty wire cable cutters = clutch cable
large adjustable wrench = only if removing peddal cranks
Set of allen wrenches = handle bars + brake pads
Black electrical tape
Plastic ties
good Chain breaker/hack or power saw + pliers/punch + hammer/ your choice = chain
drill and drill bits = optional
Teflon tape = gastank petcock threads
high temp tube of Silicone "auto car type" = around intake to carb connection + use on gaskets
extra fuel line = i use clear line : 3/16" I.D. x 5/16" O.D.
extra 10mm nuts
roll of paper gasket for making new gaskets "sold in auto supply or hardware stores"

If you have one I've found that putting on the sprocket and rag joint with a cordless impact driver works great.

Wow thats alot of stuff, How much of that do I ABSOLUTLY need, and what can I bypass?
 
The kit will come with fuel line and should have a filter as well
I would assume that you have been up keeping your own bike or bikes?
One should have maintaining a bike under there belt!

With that said this is a fun hobby but comes with a reasonable need for understanding maintenance. That list is a pretty decent list feel free to ask more questions. This is a great forum and folks will help! There are no dumb questions here !

Mojoman288 here is a cheap basic tool list:

Medium size Adjustable cresent wrench
2 10mm wrenches (you can use a couple of adjustable wrenches but it wont be fun)
flathead screw driver
philips screw driver
wire cable cutters
Black electrical tape
Plastic zip ties
good Chain breaker for 415 chain (or punch and hammer)
high temp tube of Silicone "from autopart store or section"
Really big hammer = optional
