Here's a little project that I've had in the back of my shop for years that I'm finally getting around to...

It's a custom 24" Schwinn straight bar with a Ghetto tank... (Schwinn never made a 24" straight bar).
I'm installing a good used engine into it for a friends son to ride around town.

Here's a little update... The kid has been riding this thing all over town & he loves it.

He brought it back for a little tune up & I got these pics of it while it's here.

I need to cut this muffler down a little so it won't be so close to the ground... I'll get a pic of that next week.

This is on my list of things to try, making my own tank. I've got a girls bike that I'm planning to change to a men's with a tank built into the top bar, I've been looking at different styles, I'm thinking of the top bar inside the tank.

The 24 inch Schwinn has character. Very nice bike. The tank has the look of an Indian Board Track gas tank. Was the tank and the bike both sitting around in the back of your factory for years, or was the tank recently constructed? Thank you. I appreciate it. I have heard that gas tanks can be very difficult to build. Some come together well then others you are fighting the whole way to fabricate it.

I'm going to cut the muffler part in half & weld the end cap back on it.

Yes... Because I'm also going to drill several holes in the end cap so it will flow better. (it's also going to be a lot louder).

Could you heat the pipe and give it a bend to achieve the clearance you are looking for, or would the pipe collapse.

Heating & bending a tube almost always causes it to collapse.
For the clearance & look I'm going for, cutting it down is the best way to go.

I added a second stinger on the end cap for the first bike I built, it sounded good, helped power too.

Sorry I don’t at the moment, I drilled a hole the OD of the pipe and welded it. That was 10 years ago, I think I still have it, if I find it I’ll get a better picture.
