hello everyone my name is mike im new Ive had the 50cc super titan 4 stroke from dax.com with friction drive for a while which is great I get up to 35mph and the tanaka pf-4000 40cc with friction drive which is also great get up to 35mph too but my question here is whats the big difference with in frame kits and friction drive kits ? I mean I know theres a chain but friction drives are great wheres a good reliable place to get a in frame kit that I wont get a ****ty engine I see these in frame kits from bike berry and e bay for 150.00 and up I paid almost 400.00 for my friction drive kit

Answer is pretty simple: quality of the components. To start there's no comparison between the motors, the Tanaka is hands down higher quality. It's really a personal preference, I think in the long run you will do better with the Tanaka setup despite the higher cost.

My Dax Gen IV was a major disappointment. I put my old motor back on.
Save your money. It did not feel any smoother than my 3 year old ebay motor.

Mine probably got less than 10 miles on and now is sitting in a box under the work bench.

Did you break it in properly? Or break it in at all? Mine i got coming in the mail is already balanced crank and ported. With skirted piston. For the price i would say is a good deal.

Honestly you're beating a dead horse commenting on that post.

That guy made his mind up he had a lemon no matter what advice he was given, maybe he did get a lemon, we always say on here that all of the engines are a bit of a crap shoot, its al2ays possible to get one that just isnt right, but I will also say that the engines dax sells are top notch in my opinion, I have several and have had very good performance out of the ones I have run.

Here's a question for everyone, is the F80 Premium Super Duty Engine Kit that you can find on thatsdax.com really worth the extra cost?

I mean, I can find a Skyhawk kit for like 150-170 and the F80 Premium kit is a whopping $259. I would be willing to pay the extra money for the F80 if there was a noticeable difference in quality. Has anyone purchased this kit and is willing to share their incites?

My son recently bought the deluxe kit 349.00 plus shipping, with everything. When it arrived I urged him to return it as it was some of the worst fabrication work I have ever seen. The motor mounts consisted of two pieces of galvanized angle iron with three holes and two square cut outs, Not one of which lined up with another. The "primary cover was two pieces of galvanized sheet metal, thin as paper, clumsily welded at about oh every half inch or so with sharp edges you could cut paper with. I am guessing that you are supposed to bondo the whole thing and then sand it down? It is hard to tell because there is not one instruction included with the kit. This thing is complete ****. A drunken seventh grade shop student could have done a better job. After re-makeing the motor mounts and working all weekend to get the thing installed, the motor would not run. Something is wrong with the carb. So we will be bringing it to an engine shop to figure that out. In case you think we are just not mechanically inclined. I am a machinist and my son does welding and fab work for two very good companies in this area Of North Carolina. So no I would not buy from this person. Not one single thing.

The strangest things can be wrong with these kits including the motors. I bought 3 Chinee motors, two had defective magneto's.... Heard of another motor not running right at all. Took off the fuel bowl. The needle and seat were lying in the bottom... Hole in the cylinder wall... little things like that.

Me too...I will never regret the fun I had with these temperamental beasts, but I will also never regret blowing a very large nut of $$$ on a high-quality German e-bike and bidding adieu to the ol' clunker. Been riding it since March, and have lost about 40-lbs. LOTS of fun, super reliable, and no more greasy-hands!!!
