It's been a while since I've seen a china girl at large riding in Dallas, but electric bikes are on the rise. Electric bike rentals have even come to town.

Bumping your awesome thread as a noob with a cheap 50cc kit arriving tomorrow. Hopefully you can add one to the DFW list soon. Bedford near Central and Airport.

I saw a china girl riding in my neighborhood in Farmers Branch about a month ago. First one I've seen in months anywhere in the Dallas area. About 5 or 6 months ago I saw one riding in the critical mass.
 
I drove down to Mansfield yesterday to pick up this old, rusty Schwinn and my kit should be here today along with a pair of tubes and tires!

I was looking at using my old Peugeot road bike but the swoopy handlebars don't look to great for the throttle. A jetski style lever throttle crossed my mind but it was easier to just grab this old Schwinn off craigslist for $100.

FYI the old three speed Sturmey Archer hub that comes on some of these old Schwinns is just a teensy bit too large in diameter for the bolt spacing of the standard rear sprocket and hardware.

I grabbed an old bike with 26" wheels and used the front on the rear since the crank hits the engine casing in two places and I didn't want to mess with the coast brake on the donor bike. Might mess around with that tomorrow as right now I've just got the front brake and it's less than great.

Weather's great and I've got a junker van to throw this into so I can meet up anywhere in the Metroplex for a ride!

Oak Cliff would be fun for your bike. Is that very far? I think it's about 18 miles from my house, but I can ride there.

Not too far! I'm in Bedford but the van makes things easy. My buddy ordered a kit as soon as he saw my bike so I'm going to help him put it on his bike this afternoon.

I've got to get my engine raised up a little so my pedals will clear and sort my rear hub issue before I make any long rides.

sure, take time and get all your reliability issues sorted out. It always takes a while on a new bike.
