Tall Bike Project

Nice build lowracer.

It doesn't seem that weird after looking at it a little while. It's got nice lines. If the bottom frame was painted to match the top, it would almost look factory.

Did you say the rear rim is also a Rhyno Lite? 26 or 700? Where you get those wheels?

Have fun on your crazy long rides. Hope this weather ends soon.

a dam,
Yeah, painting would make it look better.
The front wheel is a Rhyno lite 26". The rear is a generic 36h cheapo singlewall freewheel wheel that I found (I grease the loose bearings well). I found 2 new Rhyno lites on eBay for cheap, but currently am not using the rear wheel. I took it out for another quick motorized spin last night & took it up a little faster than last time. This contraption is a smile-maker...

Low.
Did you check out 'jimmy's tallbike advetures'. I tried to send
him a pic of your bike, but for whatever reason I couldn't get
thru to Australia. There's always room for a bit more mania.
I wanna see those guys downhill under power and watch the
kangaroos scatter.

I added a large ATV front fairing. As you can see in the pic, it is as high as the garage door and I need to turn the wheel a bit to get it through doorways. Here is a pic from earlier today. I've since added a stock chinagirl muffler wrapped in header wrap to avoid a burn. I have a few parts on order that will go on once they arrive. I ordered a new black rear wheel, 22T 'all thread' freewheel, & threadless headset with cartridge bearings.

This is one sick abomination of a misbegotten travesty.
I LOVE IT!
I'm still young enough to enjoy the stares and incredulous looks something like this brings.
I'd ride the wheels off it!
Very good work Lowracer.
Keep it up.
:)

Looks like a step ladder mating with a scaffold on roller skates.
Can't wait to see the video, mechanized porn. Pleeez, I wanna
see ya ride it!

IWW & Maniac, Thank you...
BarelyAwake, That trike you built is too cool!
Is there a thread link to it that you could post?
Otero, I dont have a video recorder :(

I swapped the stock catalyst muffler can (loud as heck) to a header wrapped stock china girl poo poo pipe & took it for a spin. What a huge sound difference! This is actually a nice quiet (powerful) engine now. The pipe exit is alot lower & aimed at the road below instead of blowing straight out to the left of the engine & onto my legs before I get up on it. It also wraps nicely around the fuel tank for a clean stealthy look. Here's a pic.
'Get Up On It' (set to music)...lol

This post has nothing to do with the Tall Bike, but I wanted to see if you can find the differences between my two road bikes? Yeah, I know I'm not much of a diverse creature, building up two almost identical bikes that I ride alternately depending on the type of ride or weather conditions.
Here they are

Builds like this cause inspirations to set in - anyone seen a motorized tall trike?

easy off an on

Somehow I think this trike idea would be a widow maker when turned or ridden over 10mph. Have to shelve it. Thanks for your inspirational build anyway. Good stuff.

Well there is the 'Hen and Chickens' pentacycle. Used by the postal services in England at one time apparently.

Might as well make it multi-purpose ---- motorized deer stand. :D

IWW,
Good eye!
The handlebars are very different One is a true carbon time trial bar with aerobar extensions. The 'normal' bar bike has a clip-on aero bar. Both are single speed with 16T rear freewheels. The 'normal' bar bike has a 52T front chainring w/170mm cranks while the other sports a 53T chainring w/165mm cranks. The rear bottle holders are slightly different (seatpost mount vs seat rail mount). Rear tail lights too Planet Bike Superflash vs PDW Radbot.
-I love them both like family-
I took the tall bike out again today for a ride after lowering the seat alot since I added the 'Hugh Jass' Serfas super cruiser saddle (aka couch). I had a crazy idea about mounting a set of 20" bmx wheels to effectively drop the tall bike to an almost normal sized bike height but with the ability to mount the engine in frame (slightly left of in-frame), without interfering with the pedaling aspect of things. The bottom of my left pedal stroke is more than a few inches above the engine. This kind of bike solves the need for the superwide bottom bracket axles & the unnatural pedaling associated with such a wide Q-factor.
See pic showing pedal clearance above engine

Like the 'hen & chicks' , just the sort of thing I'll need if I live to 80.
.....So, I guess we can't call you Lowracer anymore.
