There is without a doubt...nothing in this world cooler than the sight and sound of a P-51. It makes no difference if it's taxing, taking off, full power low pass or just cruising. There are two of them stationed at Centenial Airport just a few miles south of my house. I can hear them coming miles away and run into the yard just to look up and enjoy that sight.
Want to see something that will give you chills? There's a scene in the movie, "Empire of the Sun, where a 'D' model Mustang does a fly by in slow motion. The pilot has the canopy back and he waves at the camera. You can almost count the revolutions of that big four bladed prop. Oh wow!!! ("P-51, Cadillac of the sky")
