I've been running cheap non synthetic oil from Walmart in it at 40:1 since break in. However I want to mix my next refill on my gas can to be with semi synthetic oil. Is that safe to switch a motor thats been running non synthetic to semi synthetic or will that cause damage to engine? Also if there's still some of the non synthetic in the tank on the bike if some of both oils are mixed is that ok to do?

I wouldn’t worry about it at all. You may find it makes your fuel to air ratio slightly different but that’s the only thing I can think of.

Generally I think it’s probably better especially when you get up to 40 to one and higher. Seems to smoke less in my engines but I run it at 20 to one.

Cool. I've been getting what I describe as a pinging noise especially on wot. I know it wasn't doing it before I mixed my last gas can full. I've done 40:1 since break in. Did have to eyeball it when I was mixing the gas/oil. Was probably more than the 4.3 oz than that ratio required. Cause its been smoking a lot more than it used to at same ratio. Even tried changing out the plug with the a new one thats the same as the plug in it now.

Ok. I've seen that one at the Walmart down the street. Would it be the whole bottle for 40:1?

That bottle in a gallon is 50 to one.

128 ounces in a gallon divided by 2.6 ounces of oil is about 50 to one.

40 to one with that bottle would need .8 gallons of gas.

Again thanks for your help Larry. One more question... do I need to change my fuel filter or just keep using the one I have been? Filter is still clean inside. Going to take her out for a rip later today to get that semi synthetic running through the engine.

No problem just leave it there and run it. Let us know how you do and if you notice any difference.

Gumping up the pipe is much preferable to seizing up the engine. Factory says 16 to one then run 16 to one. Oil is cheap.

16 ,to 1 is taken buy China form old school days, back in the fifty’s all they had was motor oil . Now today they all kinds of highly refined 2 stroke oil and now need to over mix. 24 to 1 then like said 32 to 1 is a great plenty. The big problem is China manufacturing, take apart clean, demure, before you even start……………..Curt

I'm still getting a knocking/pinging type noise especially the more gas I give it. Still accelerates ok but the closer to wot I go the noise gets worse but other than that engine seems to be running ok.

Oil has been discussed many times here, what I've found that works for me is Lucas semi-synthetic at 32/1. I run that mix in every 2-cycle I own, 3 bikes, chain saws, blower etc. I know it works, my chain saw that I bought in 1983 has never had a problem, my first bike engine is now almost 11 years in service, 32/1 works for me.

I've had this problem on certain brands of engines...Install a extra head gasket to lower the compression ratio... (be sure to only torque the head to 12 ft/lbs

You can put 2 on the bottom to lower the compression also but it will change your port timing a little bit. Try running higher octane gas.

I'm currently running 91 octane gas in it. You would'nt happen to have a link to some good gaskets would you?
