RETIREMENT

Congratulations! You will feal a little alone at first but soon find others, to take the place. I worked at a paper mill 600 employies, so lots of opinons tp lose. I have been retired 25 years now and don't miss much of it anymore, except a lot of funerals in the later years. .........Curt

Sadly, I had to retire at 48 due to a congenital birth defect with my heart. It was a big adjustment when my weekly salary became my monthly salary. Life style changes were necessary. However I can honestly say I'm happier with less stressers in my life than I ever was working even though I had nicer things then.

Congratulations on being unemployed Greg, may it suit you well.

I made it to 70, when Covid and my wife having Multiple Myeloma forced me out of work to keep Mona safe. Had not my wife suffering cancer and undergoing chemo, I likely would still putting in 40.
I lost all ambition after I could not do real work.
The up side is that my reading has increased. Latest hard read was a bio of Xi Jinping, 370 pages of text and 135 pages of reference.

Being retired hasn't been bad so far, I've been catching up on a few things that I've got behind on, tree trimming and yard work. It's funny when you are working full time you over look a lot of things, now I pay more attention because I don't have to worry about work. My replacement hasn't called me but once so he is handling things.

I can honestly say that I enjoyed my job, I've always gravitated towards a challenge so the school system job gave me something to keep me on the move, I started planning retirement at the end of 2024, I gave my notice at work in January and we started looking for my replacement, then when my brother passed away in March my decision was confirmed. I cannot and will not just sit down and quit, one of the things I tell my wife when she asks me why I ge up so early is" I'm burning daylight", I can't sit down when there's things to do.

My mother worked as a storage facility manager for 30 years. She lived at the facility. She bought a house and retired. For 2 years she still got up at 5:00 am. Then one day she asked herself why am I getting up this early? After that she was normally up between 8~9:00 am.
