I installed a Sportster cobra seat that I cut down to size, and relocated my taillight. This seat allows a better riding position, and is a lot more comfortable than the solo seat that came on the bike.
Previous modifications include upgrading the motor, and controller, and building a custom 72v battery.

The only thing I don't like about the Ebike is all of the wasted space, add a extra battery for mileage which will also help speed.
That lower space lowers the center of gravity improving high-speed stability. I would hope the Ebike is a Direct-Drive unit which
is maintenance free for use and is a higher speed drive. I've got bot kinds, Geared and a Direct-Drive on a Walfisk 3KW drive.
The drive is quieter, faster and actually has a lot of torque. My first Ebike had the Geared-Drive system and it's noisy but not as
bad as the Mid-Drive units! The Direct-Drive is quiet and a lot of fellas say it doesn't have the torque a Geared-Drive has. But,
I differ since I have both and know from experience that there is no comparison when high voltage, high amperage is applied to a
Direct-drive HubMotor, things happen instantly! Pulling wheelies using a Geared-Drive motor will take a backseat to speed on the
good Direct-Drive motors. When you can reach 55 mph in under 1/2 mile it tells you something. I have 2-Direct-Drive motors on
my Alien K6 and it will hit 60+ Mph in seconds so I hope you got the Direct-Drive Ebike! Oh, bye the way, the Walfisk runs 55 mph
very quick, no wheelies just pure torque and speed. I seldom run anywhere 30 mph unless a Dog in the country chases me to bite
me! The K6 is a different story, it's a scary Scooter with a backrest seat to protect a Person from getting thrown off of it on it's high
acceleration. Indian22 and I are working together since he is a Ole-Timer to Gasbikes and has a wealth of experience with them
BUT, he and and are progressing to Practical Ebikes and researching them. Just remember SPEED is not important, distance
and reliability is more important with safety. I have ran for 5-miles at 55 mph on the Walfisk on a State Highway and don't do
that unless traffic is sparse. A cop meeting me would cite me for running Moped over the speed limit on a moped not licensed,
insured, registered and and over the speed limit. Most of those laws are Moronic and made to steal money from the Public.

Be-careful out there especially in a city!

Can't argue with any of this, it pretty much parallels my experience.

I was sort of an early adopter, going electric in 2013. Back then factory electric bikes were an expensive novelty, and not very popular. Electric bike riders were mostly nerdy nerd balls that weren't particularly bike lovers, but enjoyed showing off their mental prowess by building a contraption not many people could understand. Good looks weren't particularity part of the equation. Not really my cup of tea, because I was only ever interested in bikes I considered to be great bikes, with great looks. Now days with hundreds of inexpensive ready made eBike brands, the nerdy home builders are relegated to places like endless sphere, while everyone else and their mother literally can buy, and ride an eBike even though they lack any mechanical understanding of how they work. I don't really fit into either group. I'm not smart enough to be a nerd, and I'm too dedicated to bikes to be a casual rider.

Thanks for the response and I've had motorcycles and got messing around with Gasbikes built two of them and Indian22 coxed me into going
with a Emoped. I can say it was a big change but a fella needs to think ahead, no oil changes, gasoline plus more maintenance which is always
associated with gasoline or diesel powered vehicles. Even very seldom a fella has to go through a thorough check of the vehicle, just check
the charge on the battery, tires and go. Many of the new Ebikes have way too many Bells&Whistles on then that are not needed or practical.
Ole Rick and I are not interested in speed which is no problem to use with the Ebikes since the burst in speed is only used to keep from becoming
a bite and take down from a farm dog. Rick, builds Ebikes and they have a steep learning curve to it electrically plus mechanically. There are
two different skill sets to have with Ebikes. One is electrical knowledge and mechanical knowledge way above the casual level of expertise.
I believe a Person riding and maintaining a Ebike is becoming indoctrinated into skills when riding and using them without even noticing it!
Things become second nature with the Ebikes and a bystander is totally lost with how to run one, use one and maintain one. Don't under
estimate your knowledge of using, maintaining and riding a Ebike.

This thread is so very timely for me. I'm in the process of electrifying the Indian Tri Car myself. My nephew is an officer in the Royal Canadian Mounted Police who are the major police force here in British Columbia. Some cities have their own police force but the R.C.M.P. are in charge of policing the rest of the province. Gas powered bikes are illegal in Canada. Only ebikes with 500 watt motors and the maximum speed is 32 kph or 20 mph. He's suggested that I go electric with everything or I may have a chance to watch my bike disappear to the impound lot on the back of a wrecker and I walk away with a large fine.

They are slowly weeding out ICE engines on bikes. Most of the parts suppliers are out of business and a lot of the electric bike parts suppliers are gone as well or just selling ebikes. I have found one ebike parts supplier here in Canada recently and I'm working on a bulk 21700Ah battery cell purchase to build the batteries. The Monark and side car are set up for 36v and I'm debating leaving it that way or going with a 48v set up.

Probably a powered rear wheel set up on the tri car. I'm looking at a mid motor as well. Silverbear sent me an engine the same as the one that is in it but not complete. I'll use that to replace the engine in there now.

Sorry to hear about the problems up there! Those problems are ones that the GOV made that a bunch of Idiots made stupid laws. We have
some real nut-cases in GOV here too get laws passed which they can never enforce. Our President needs to get ugly with a bunch of idiots
in State GOVs.

Good luck up there and be careful...

Hello Dennis,

Like all politicians no matter what political party or country they firmly believe they should do the thinking for us since we obviously are incapable. I've often said the worst part is they have proof. We voted the useless slugs in. When they decided to stop ICE powered bikes here after they did a bunch of test in labs and test tracks the government called on anyone or group who wanted to have a say in the new ebike laws being drawn up.

It was an interesting group that showed up. First the spandex crowd who said that ebikes would destroy the bicycle riding community. Most surprising to me was Ford Motor Company because they were heavily involved in developing the THINK Electric Bike. A total disaster it seems but they wanted their say. Then there was the Insurance Corporation of British Columbia. The government of B.C. runs the auto insurance in the province. You can buy your auto insurance from the province directly or from one of the many insurance companies. Some are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and most are open 7 days a week with regular hours. Sold every where from banks to pharmacy's.

They are a political foot ball depending on who's in office but generally decently run. Trouble is it's a government piggy bank as any pool of cash they control.

Then the squabbling started. Spandex people tried to get the whole idea squashed, or at best restricted to 250W motors. Ford wanted 750W motors and I.C.B.C. most likely ran in circles with their hair on fire, while waving their hands in the air shouting about the costs of it all. In the end and to their credit I think, the federal government said it was going to be 500W motors and 32 kmh. Their reasoning was that people would use ebikes more if they had some power behind them and it wasn't a lot of work. Targeted at people using them to commute and the older folks who would have less work to peddle them and more reason to use them.

There are two levels of ebikes. Fourteen and fifteen year olds are allowed to have ebikes that are restricted to bikes that have a top speed of 20 kmh or 15 mph with no throttle and only pedal assist. I'm not sure of the motor size. The motor doesn't work if your not peddling. The irony is that they just busted a 15 year old boy who was standing on one leg on the seat of his bike while holding on to the handle bars and doing long wheelies. Good thing he wasn't doing it on a gas powered bike. That would have been dangerous. The bike of course, was a level 2 ebike with a throttle. He's charged with a long list if felonies and a $598 dollar fine and his bike was impounded. You can bet when he goes to get his drivers license he'll be shocked at his insurance rate.

In another city they grabbed 3 kids tearing up a city park on their ebikes. They have the same fines and their bikes were impounded as well.

The problems are coming from Politicians (Idiots that lack Common-Sense) who enact draconian laws through GOV and that's happening here.
GOV is suppose to work for the People and not for special interest, Money Bribes, Lobbyists and Foreign Outside Interests. Our Country had
a revolution on "Taxation Without Representation" and many other reasons which steal that Representation from the Elected Politicians. What
is going on is way too much authority is given to Elected Politicians who vote laws in which represent laws for the People but, not for Thee!
The Rats need to be cleaned out of office and the Rats are the reason for Wars and Terror against the People. That has always been the Cycle
throughout History. Politics is a very Dirty Business run by the worse People in Mankind and most of them are Narcissists, Psychopaths and
Sociopaths with mental disorders. Most all of them Gravitate to Power and Money!

The only thing I don't like about the Ebike is all of the wasted space,

Be-careful out there especially in a city!
I hear this comment a lot from other eBike riders. I understand why people would tend to think that, but there's a good reason to leave it completely open. All that beautiful emptiness conceals a very sophisticated cloaking technology. From a distance a predator thinks they see a unregistered motorcycle cruising 45 mph in traffic, but upon closer observation what stands out is a huge empty space with big a pedal crank. Rolling the pedals around makes the bike instantly morph into a confusing image of a bicycle. It's similar to magic, look over here, not over there. It works every time.

My family has been heavily involved in politics since Canada was formed in 1867 and in the U.K. before that. I left it all behind when we were at a meeting and our local Member of Parliament/Congressman was there talking about a controversial item that was being voted on in Parliament that messed with the peoples rights. He told us that he wouldn't vote for it because it wouldn't help him be reelected. Not that it was garbage, just that it wouldn't help him get reelected.

Getting rid of ICE powered bikes and replacing them with ebikes did, so here we are. Then pass laws that prevent people from making a choice.

Steve.

So far we haven’t had any issues riding gas bikes here in Georgia, I keep mine legit, both bikes I have now are 48cc. I wear a helmet and usually a reflective vest, I’ve never been stopped. Electric is the way of the future, I will get one one day.
