Les Miserable

It’s a good time to finish a build! I’ve found two weeks in a hot garage is good. But with rustoleum IMO it really takes 2-3 months to be really solid. I gave it only a few days in warmth on this one. But now since I painted it there are some small changes to be made/welded on so I’ll do it again. But it’s good to have most of it painted already. Just adds to the time it’s been curing.

Well I goofed again !! I went to apply the vinyl decals to the gas tank. Got the left side on perfectly, then had a brain fart and applied the right side an inch to low. Got new decals ordered, but I messed the paint up removing it and had to repaint the right side of the tank again ! Damm I’m getting tired of painting and repainting !!

Well guys, I finally got done with the paint job and lettering. I disassembled the wheels and regreased the bearings. Cleaned and greased all the other bearings and slowly reassembled the bike. Tightened the last bolt after work today and took a few pictures. Going to let it sit for a month, then fill it with gas and take it out for a ride. Video when I run it !

Ready for a Concours d'Elegance !
Let us know how that saddle angle works out for ya, and the wooden pedal treads.
I set my saddle back level and worked steadily to stay mounted. After referring to period photo's it struck me that most all sprung saddles were set nose up. I also relaxed the seat back tension a bit.

If I knew what size I could find something... Or some options vintage Webber for a VDub would be cool

Well done Sir! (^)

The air filter is the only thing that looks too modern.
While we're picking it apart... A brass strap kill and repop wire and hardware and brass velocity stack would go with the paint nice... For $20

The kind with the set screws fit a range... But I don't like them because they don't seal and bite into the carb ...

If it was me I would cut up a soda can into a long strip and go around it a few times then clamp the 39mm on it... It's $10 so it's worth a shot some brass window screen around it then the horn over that would take up the difference... You can put pantyhose over the opening if its dusty with a rubber band... Might need a size bigger on the jet...
