"It ran last year"....

A little sanding and wd-40 and it should be good to go! What did he do leave it under a gutter down spout?

That's the way cyl. #1 looked in a VW bug I used to have. I knew it had issues, I bought it as a non runner.

It's all aluminum oxide, all apparently from corrosion of the head. The cylinder looked fine. Head was WASTED!
Scrapped before bothering to look further. Old craftsman brand with a 30-35lb cast aluminum deck.

That white is zinc, from cheap alloy. I found out that the siding on old French campervans was made out of a high zinc sheet, they start getting holes like worms have been at them. I sold mine quick.

That deck is/ was worth slapping a new-to-it engine on it.
Shoot, even replacing the head with another one from a dead donor mower?
Was it an oddball engine Mfg?
I still have the cylinder from my bug. It has rust stalactites on what was the top wall of the cylinder. Weirdest thing I have ever seen inside an engine!

Ahhhh, what's the problem? Throw a little Opti-2 in it and go mow the lawn, for-cryin'-out-loud.
