Here in Washington all the laws are very hazy, my bike is on the illlegalish side of the gray area since i don't have a license yet. the laws on the WADOT site are like this; If the wheels are larger than 10.5 inches but the displacement is ocver 50ml, then it's a moped but if the wheels are smaller than 10.5 inches then it is a power assisted bike. Does not apply to e-bike unless it goes over 20mph. Or some BS like that

I finally have my title and VIN plate. I just have to wait a few weeks to register it because the forms require a driver's licence number, and I will be getting my learners permit soon.

We should be there. Tomorrow we will call to make the reservation at the red mill inn, hopefully they still have rooms for Saturday Sept. 26 night. I can tell you how I got the title and VIN at the rally.

http://www.dmv.state.pa.us/pdotforms/fact_sheets/fs-momo.pdf here look at bottom second page motorized pedalcycles and side cars for motorcycles are not titled in the commonwealth of pa which in turn means that with no title u cant get a registraction and which also means its not a moped or motor drive cycle its nothing i got pulled over and the cop just asked motor cc and let me go and i got over 450miles on bike already troy live in pa toodnut

The fact sheet only says that side cars are not titled, the older fact sheet said that motorized pedalcycles were not titled. The up to date one says only side cars are not titled. Mopeds require registration, it is $9 for a year.

My bike is now insured, and registered as a moped. I am so happy that I finally can ride anywhere I want without having to worry about getting fined for not having insurance/registration. I will probably take a ride tomorrow, if the weather is nice.

Congratulations! I hope to hear how you got your title and VIN when we're at the rally in Lewes.

I will fill you guys in at the rally on how I went about getting my title/VIN/insurance/registration. It was a lot easier and cheaper than you might think.

The state's still trying to get me. I got my blue bike with the 49cc Hueshang titled as a moped back in May. My notary called me the other day & said the state contacted her that my bike has to be titled as a motorcycle because on the paper work she checked 1.5 to 5 hp. That qualifies it as a motorcycle. She is going to try to get it listed as under 1.5 hp & see what happens. Got to love our government. Guess they have nothing better to do.

I hope my notary did not make the same mistake of checking 1.5 to 5hp. I have not had any problems yet, so I guess everything is fine. I hope you can keep it titled as a moped as motorcycles require the annual inspection, a class M licencse, and it costs $18 to register each year compared to $9 for mopeds.

I just looked over my paperwork recently to make sure she did not make the same mistake, and she did check the wrong box. She checked the 1.6 to 5hp box, when I specifically told her that it was under 1.5hp. I will have to go back to the notary to fix the mistake before the state notices and says it needs to be retitled as a motorcycle instead.

If you're under 50cc, do you still require license, registration, etc. in Pennsylvania?

Thanks,

Ken
if its under 50ccs in pa you dont need jack diddly squat but over 50 ccs its basicly a motor cycle and you need to get all the goodies this is according to my wife also who works for the state of Pa this has helped a great deal. Also order or get your hands on all the 48 and 49 cc block plates you can and exchange them for the 66 cc on the side of your engine i still havent been pumped <checked for displacment by the cops> but have been stopped by so many i lost count after 37 or 38 times whats really amazing is how many police officers dont even know the laws lots of them say ill have to get back to you on yha ! L M A O ! ALSO LOW LEAD 100 OCTAIN GAS FROM YOUR LOCAL AIR PORT WORKS WONDERS @16 to 1 remember spark plugs are cheaper than pistons cool beans brothers and sisters remember burning rubber screaming women and 2 stroking RULES Art !.wee..wee.
