I'm thinking worst case, you're on the road, in the middle of nowhere- buzzards circling around you in the sky and it happens.. you run out of oil mixed with gas.. what we all need to keep these babies movin'.

Without any downhills in site how long could you pedal for? I'm mean your adrenaline is pumping, maybe your on meth.. how long could you go for? How long could you last?

On my un-motored mtn. bikes I could pedal to eternity, on my motorized bikes, I can make it to the gas station just fine......however far. I prefer not to pedal these days as i've pedaled all my life thus far. Why do you think I like my MB's so much? Shouldn't be to hard to figure outlafflafflaff

BTW, my bikes are 4-strokes.....oil mixed? What oil? Any gas station will do!

I have peddeled a stock china girl set-up on a 7-speed cassette
bicycle after running out of fuel for 2-miles, with no problem.
But it does require setting your clutch pull handle on your handle bar
by pulling the lever in.

I could peddle it all day long but that's just me. Pick a gear and find a cadence. I love my motorized bikes. I have peddle bikes I love too. I have peddled my motored home from clean across town. [Broken carb cable]. That is the beauty after all these bikes can be peddled too.:)

I had to pedal about 7 miles when my engine died, with the clutch not fully disengaged (come loose a little), just grazing across whatever's inside, mostly flat surface and uphill, in the sun, no sunscreen, t-shirt on, and my camel pack, whilst sitting on a rock solid seat (felt like I had prostate, I could not sit down for a few days after this event)
I will pedal for as long as I need to.

I was lucky a carpenter was working next to the house I had to go and he was able to give me a lift back to the station.

Just so you know, I've lost my fitness...

I only ride where there are people that I can anoy with my smelly ozone destroying exhaust gas motorized bicycle.
I also only ride on roads that go down hill.
I don't think that buzzards would be circling around me because of my smoke cloud would make them fall out of the sky.
I also don't think I would run out of mix that I carry in a trailer that I haul behind my bike.
I quit meth after my last tooth in my head fell out!
Now I only smoke the leaves from some kinda endangered spiecies of plant that I planted in a commie crap motor that I took of a bike that I couldn't figure out how to get running right in the first place.Cause of the meth.
I could ride as far as I could ride a bike without a motor just add 20lbs.
You forgot to put that option in your poll!
Your Poll makes about as much sense as your last rant!Kip.

I wouldn't get too upset guys...

It is the internet...

Diver might be 12 years old and 80lbs., in which case both of his threads start to make sense.

I have peddled 6 miles home before,I just take the engine chain off, then its just another bike, although heavier.

Yeah... I discovered that trick on my way home that night when the tensioner came loose and I just felt like taking the chain off... But who's to say I'd always have a spare spanner and screw driver on me for these emergencies? LOL

I think that the best thing to do when your engine dies and you have a long long way to pedal to remove the master link. Then set the chain way from the rear sprocket by wire or cord so you don't have that engine chain going around and around. dvddtz is right as far making it easier. So far I have never had the bike give up on me yet.

Being a paraplegic, i can't pedal my bike at all, anyone else could jump on it and pedal it as far as they liked, my motor setup is completely separate from the manual pedal side of things, bikes weight is 40kilo so not a huge effort at all...

I always kept a tool kit with, at least, the right size wrenches and screwdrivers I would need to get the drive chain off. And I kept a small bottle of oil premixed for a quart of gas, in case running out of fuel was the problem. But as to this thread's premise, I can walk twenty miles anytime you ask me to, and can ride even a heavy bike at least as far. Just give me regular breaks and let me pace myself. (I was in the boy scouts, I know hiking and biking.)

I'm pretty sure I could peddle my China Girl for 20 miles or more. Lately I peddled 10+ miles on three different occasions. I only average about 6 or 7 mph though. At those speeds I think I could peddle all day.

I like peddling my bike for exercise but for actually getting anywhere it takes too long.

i always have to pedal, theres a flower pot where my piston should be. it's pretty though.

if i was mad enough, i could pedal my bike over to a party, dump it on it's side, then fight someone's boyfriend, 'cause i just don't care.

hopefully, when i was done fighting, it would start up again, though, 'cause fightin makes me tired.

KiM,

Your bike is a beautiful execution of design and engineering!

Jim

I have no peddles, I would have to walk. Or push it like a knee scooter.

Always have minimum tools for the adjustments that you can make on the road.
